We met Royal Outdoor Living at the Wilmington Home Show in February. They were polite and professional and we signed an engagement in April and paid almost a $40k down payment for our job. In June we were unable to proceed due to permitting issues. We revised the scope such that it would be acceptable, and the cost came down to roughly what we'd paid for our deposit. Royal gave us a timeframe for the work to start and when they did not meet that timeframe we asked for a return of our money. On 8/14, Patrick Mulcahy from Royal Outdoor Living told me via a phone call that we would get a refund the following week, less expenses for design work. Since then Royal Outdoor Living has ghosted us. They do not respond to letters, messages sent via their project management tool, or phone calls. Patrick Mulcahy, the salesman says that the owner is responsible for refunds. Jacob Wepking, the owner, says that Frank Dick, the General manager manager is responsible for refunds. Frank defers to Jacob. As you'll see from some other reviews, if there are any problems there's a pattern.

We hired Royal Outdoor Living to replace our front porch wooden railings with vinyl. The quality of the work was extremely poor from the start. Only one worker—who appeared inexperienced—was assigned to the job, and the results reflect that lack of expertise. During the installation, our exterior stone staircase was damaged. The bottom step is now visibly cracked and unstable to the point where it feels unsafe, we’ve nearly fallen multiple times because it wobbles. We now have to hire a professional stonemason to repair damages that did not exist prior to their work. In addition, the side railing along our 7-step staircase was improperly installed. Originally, the railing extended all the way to the ground at the walkway. Instead, they anchored it directly into the bottom step, which appears to have caused or contributed to the structural damage to that step. When we contacted the company to request a follow-up inspection, the situation only got worse. Not only were they rude and dismissive, but during one call, the front desk staff forgot to mute the line where we overheard internal conversations... That level of unprofessionalism was shocking. They ultimately refused to come back out and inspect or address the issues, despite weeks of waiting. We are now paying for another contractor to fix their mistakes. This has been a costly and frustrating experience, and we will not be using this company again and cannot recommend them to anyone.
