I got only a few lessons from Tyrell at the mission bay pool. One of the nicest human i have met and instructor i worked with. He was extremely patient, present and accommodated and improvised based on how i was doing and where i was looking to be. Plus point is the pool has really good scenic vistas!
Our experience with Coach Tyrell at Safe Swim Academy has been literally life changing!! My son is autistic, incredibly smart, and severely hydrophobic. He's gone from being terrified of water droplets on his face/ body, to proudly jumping into the deep end of the pool! Coach T has been so patient, understanding, and fun during every lesson. He saw my son's need for play-based instruction right away and adapted his method to exactly what my son needed without me having to say a word, which as a special needs mom was another miracle in itself! Thank you Coach Tyrell and Coach Monica for making our lessons so engaging and fun, and helping to provide an amazing safe space for our special needs kiddos to learn such vital life skills. Safe Swim has been so phenomenal for all ages and abilities & we're so grateful to have these experiences with them!
All the instructors are super NICE and FRIENDLY. All the kids seem happy as theyre learning. My son has been coming here for about a year now and we have had no issues at all. He loves his current instructor Hudson and is always looking forward to coming to his lesson.
We had a wonderful experience with Safe Swim Academy. My two daughters (ages 5 and 2) took semi-private lessons, and the program was thoughtfully customized to each child’s comfort level in the water. The instructors met them exactly where they were, which made a huge difference in building confidence and skills. We saw especially great progress with our oldest daughter’s swimming abilities over a short period of time. Our instructor, Maddie, was absolutely amazing—so patient, kind, and attentive with both girls. She created a calm, encouraging environment that made lessons something they genuinely looked forward to. We would highly recommend Safe Swim Academy and Maddie to any family looking for high-quality, personalized swim instruction in the San Diego area.
I had a lifelong fear of water but was determined to finally learn as an adult. My experience with Safe Swim was amazing from start to finish. Monica reached out right after I created an account, answered all my questions, and made me feel comfortable signing up. My main instructor, Maddie, was incredibly patient and encouraging. I even asked her to hold my hand at first, and she never made me feel embarrassed. Thanks to her, I can now swim without fear/panic. I also had lessons with Emma, Kate, and Rosie, and they were all fantastic. Every instructor (even those I didn’t work with) here is supportive and kind. Highly recommend Safe Swim to anyone wanting to learn!
Safe Swim has been an amazing experience for my kids. The strides both of them have made in less than a year of lessons has been huge. The instructors are so patient and have gone above and beyond in working with my youngest who was afraid of the water when he started. Would recommend to anyone looking for kid swim lessons.
These lessons have been great. My daughter was nervous around the water and now she has confidence to get in the pool and ocean. I also took lessons and I am much more comfortable in the water.
It’s been so easy and fun for my kid to do swim lessons with a friend. They worked with our schedule and my son has noticeably progressed and improved with swimming and putting his face and full head underwater and diving down in just four lessons! Great at instilling confidence in him too! Can’t wait to keep going!
My 8/9 year old had two sessions of private swim with Safe Swim (12 lessons total) and went from sorta making it across the pool/not drowning to swimming actual strokes. She had two instructors and both were excellent. This was money well spent as group lessons really weren’t going anywhere. Great, clear, quick communication from the owner as well. Gorgeous view from the pool deck for parents who are watching.
Both my kids were very uncomfortable with the water prior to lessons with Swim Safe Academy. They hated even getting their faces wet. We'd tried other swim schools and didn't make real or lasting progress. They are both little fish now and making progress!
