Selma’s catered our wedding in September and did an amazing job! All the food was wonderful, especially the pimento cheese flatbreads. We recently used Selma's as our catering for our wedding of 170 guests at the beginning of the month. We primarily worked with Mae before she left and Kim took over. Both of them were fantastic to work with and readily available with any questions we had. My husband and I were doing long distance during the wedding planning, and the team was very accommodating in getting our tasting scheduled after making some preliminary menu selections. The tasting itself was a very professional experience where the presentation was nice and we got to meet with their team and chef and to ask questions.
We ended up going with a buffet setup to help with reduce the cost, and the line moved swiftly as we watched people go through. We had Selma's make food item cards and indicate whether items were gluten free or not to help our guests make informed food decisions. Our menu consisted of BBQ meatballs, spinach dip cups, and a custom bacon-wrapped chicken bite for passed appetizers during our cocktail hour. We went with traditional caesar salad as the starter, followed by a bourbon glazed pork tenderloin or herb-crusted chicken breast. For sides, we went with mac & cheese as well as potato gratin to create the southern comfort food we desired. In our tasting, we also negotiated to have a limited number of plated vegetarian meals (pasta primavera) available to be served to those with food allergies which went really smooth. We had collected responses during RSVPs and provided their exact table number and chair to Selma's for it to work as smoothly as it did. We had desserts catered by a relative, and bartending was through a required vendor by the venue.
All of the food was delicious, and quite frankly, it was better than when we had gone in for our tasting. Our passed apps were a hit, and we are still drooling over the spinach dip cups. Mae had suggested just the right amount as we ran out of the appetizers right as guests were allowed to find their seats in the venue. We ended up with about 2 pans of leftovers, which I think can be attributed to the Kentucky heat taking a toll on guests during cocktail hour. The full chicken breast was also a lot to digest in conjunction with our side items.
We certainly recommend Selma's Catering for any event where you need catering. The team was very flexible with our many changes in food quantities and final guest count numbers, and again, the food was delicious.

Jumping your prices 4x when the amount of food has less than doubled is absurd. There’s no reason why two separate days of events couldn’t have two tastings. Almost wishing I had my husband coordinate one day and me the other; but at this point it’s obvious Selma’s didn’t want this massive job for one reason or another. They were so excited and accommodating at first, then it just felt like they figured we’d pay so they could charge whatever they wanted. Very unprofessional and unethical.

Incredibly frustrated with this company. They were not organized at all. They did not have pricing prepared. I felt like I had to milk any and all information out of them. Every interaction felt unprofessional and as if they did not know anything. Pricing felt made up when I did get it from them on food. It was then typed on spreadsheets WE prepared. Tastings jumped in price. It went from $25 a plate to $100 when we asked to do two separate tastings. Mind you, we were going to hire them for 2 separate days. A wedding event with 500 people. They refused to let us do two tastings. Instead said we could do it all at once and the price was going to jump to $100 even though what was picked was within their parameters. The excuses did not make since at all when I questioned it. I have worked with several catering companies and never have I been this disappointed and frustrated. I consulted other companies on the behavior and lack of information and they all found it unprofessional too. Selma's seemed promising, however, it is not.

Selma's Catering provided delicious food for our wedding a couple of weeks ago! Kim and her team are super easy to work with and you can taste the love for their craft in each bite. All the guests absolutely loved the food options. There was plenty of food for people to even get seconds! Additionally, Kim was willing to work with us to align with our budget and was super transparent during the planning process. I appreciate her always responding to my millions of questions. The only reason I am giving 4 stars is because the catering team felt a little discombobulated during the wedding day. We requested that guests are not given beer cans directly, but we saw many guests with multiple cans at their table; the knife for the cake cutting was not prepared and we were not informed that we needed to provide that (if that was the case); and some of the staff members were taking plates a bit too early when people weren't finished with their meals (this was a complaint stated to me by some guests). Overall, the food was delicious (I cannot emphasize that enough!), Kim did a great job making our alcoholic signature drink (everyone loved it, we actually ran out!!), and they were flexible and easy to work with. I recommend Selma's Catering for your next event!!

Selma’s Catering completely blew us away!!!! 10/10!!! I got married on 7/6/24 and people are still talking about the food days later! Their team went above and beyond for us, helped us craft the perfect menu that we were so excited about! I won’t ever use another caterer than Selma’s! I didn’t get many food pics but attached one from a guest! Beef tenderloin not pictured 🥹 these sides taste like your memaw made them from scratch and brought them over (no exaggeration lol THAT GOOD!) go ahead and do yourself a favor and book them for your wedding 🥰
