Sherburne-Marrs

LAWSUIT CASE NO : CV01-26-19515 has been filed in District Court against Sherburne-Marrs due to their ZERO accountability and ZERO attempts to further honor the one year warranty in which was contracted. We are still living with thirty (30) unresolved issues some of which are over TEN (10) months old and originally identified by Jared Sherburne during our initial move-in walkthrough (exactly 299 days ago). A InterNACHI certified independent inspection has confirmed many of our reported issues such as Improper Construction Practices, poor workmanship and poor construction techniques. We unfortunately have been forced to file this lawsuit to hold Sherburne-Marrs accountable for tens of thousands of dollars we spent to repair their Defective Workmanship and complete lack of accountability. (Original post below) ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING… BUYER BEWARE… We paid in full over 2.7 million dollars for Sherburne-Marrs to build us our dream home but it is anything but dreamy. We took possession of the house seven (7) months ago and we still have twenty-one (21) unresolved issues that Sherburne-Marrs has shown the lack of acknowledgment for being responsible or even having intent on getting these issues resolved. We had to file a complaint with the DOPL (Contractors Board) in hopes Sherburne-Marrs will do the right thing and repair, replace or resolve these issues as stated in our warranty. We have also retained legal representation and will be pursuing a legal system remedy. The complaint lists several incidents of Construction Negligence, Defective Workmanship, Structural Incompetence , Fraudulent Billing Practices and Gross Negligence. Sherburne -Marrs repeatedly billed us as the client for correcting damages and structural errors caused entirely by their own crew or subcontractors. Furthermore, they created an active life-safety hazard by disabling a protective alarm (CO2) for over a month and would not replace it for 31 days also withholding manufacturer warranties as financial leverage during a billing dispute. I have provided multiple formal notices and an on-site inspection opportunity, which the contractor failed to adequately remediate any issues. I am a retired Police Officer / Gang Unit Detective and Tactical Unit Sniper. I am also a former Firefighter/EMT and currently consulting with the U.S Dept. of War. I normally have flawless human judgement and profiling skills but Jared Sherburne slipped by me I guess. For someone to claim he’s a patriot and stands for honesty and Integrity I sure don’t see it. I sure am glad my wife has a great sense of doing things the right way… Eagle is an amazing place to live but if you are building a custom home here , I would definitely shop around because there are a number of honest and integral builders throughout this area.

Through the process of design, scheduling, choosing everything from exterior to interior they were on top of everything. Communication was excellent every step of the way. The entire team at Sherburne-Marrs is to be commended for their superb professionalism and continuing personal contact throughout lot selection, design, build, and post-build support for our new home. We moved to Boise from living in Monterey CA for over four decades to enjoy our daughter’s family with four grandkids. A year and a half before the move we selected Sherburne-Marrs for our build based on several visits to their open houses and discussions with Jared and Lane. Selecting them to build our final home proved to be the best decision we made concerning the move. It was our first time to work a design from the ground up. We decided to be in Boise Hills near downtown in the Somerset development, and Jared with Lane patiently walked us through a lot purchase for our build in an area new to them for building. They were key in resolving some critical engineering issues with the lot - issues we would have been unaware of had we purchased without their expertise and help in resolving. Along with that process, we were well underway with the design, based on an existing model. The flexibility Jared offered was amazing. He patiently facilitated our own ideas for the design, while providing crucial suggestions for improvement. We had several iterative and significant design changes, requiring plans to be redrawn each time, and were most pleased these were included in his services. We had a say in the critical electrical, HVAC, and plumbing walk-throughs, working out solutions with Jared and team before they became expensive issues later. AND, even during the height of the Covid pandemic, he was still 6 months from start to finish. Jared is to be commended for maintaining a solid business model through a smaller size company that enables him to build beautiful houses and satisfy the customer by being personally involved. Sherburne-Marrs has been in business long enough to have developed solid, long-term subcontractors who also reflect his emphasis on excellence and customer satisfaction. Kudos to all who helped - Jared, Rick, Cody, Desiree, Lane, and Amy. We have had several follow-ups, both within the 1-year warranty period and after, that the team helped resolve with the same attention to detail given before acceptance. I was very Blessed to help some an awesome family finance their construction loan with Jared and his team as they moved here from out of state. The team he has in place is amazing and they take SOOOOO much pride in building a home for their clients, not just a house. Jared's office manager Desiree was a rock star, making sure the draws were done in a timely manner, was extremely professional, while at the same time having fun and loving what she does. We hired Jared and his phenomenal team to build our home in Eagle, Idaho while we were living in Los Angeles. Building a home when you live in the same city is an enormous task. When you live out of state, it can be overwhelming. Thankfully, Jared and his team at Sherburne-Marrs are experts not only in building exceptional homes, but in the process of helping their clients make the decisions along the way.
