This vet clinic totally saved me. We live in Truckee and had an appointment for a health certificate to be able to bring our dog to Costa Rica. The day before the appointment and 4 days before we were to travel we found out our Truckee vet didn't do the official version we needed for travel. After frantically calling several clinics I got a hold of Sierra Ranch and the front desk person put me on the calendar for the very next day. When I arrived everybody was super helpful and kind. Of course the USDA website that the examination goes into for final approval was down so I left the vet with them assuring me they'd keep trying. That night at 845 I got a call from the vet who had just managed to submit and make it work. I can't say enough about how thoughtful they were and how much they went above and beyond.

William, Thank you for the 5-star review. Yes, this was a nail-biter for sure, but we're glad we were able to help you and your dog quickly and safely get to Costa Rica. Enjoy your next adventure in life. On a liter note, our motto is, " No Pet Left Behind." Dr. Williams

We have had nothing but issues with this clinic, the latest being that they won't even verbally ok a prescription that Dr. Williams has for our dog with Ca Pet Pharmacy as they only work with Chewy and one other pharmacy. This is a clear kick back situation which I guess shows there is no Hippocratic oath for this vet. The medication in question ranges in price from 300 dollars to 30, and of course their chosen pharmacy is one of the highest. The worst is that she forgets what tests she ordered, and will do the same tests multiple times without admitting she doesn't know what is wrong with your dog. We lost our dog, Charlie, to endocarditis, and Dr. Williams didn't even pick up his heart murmur. It wasn't until we went to UC Davis Veterinary Hospital on our own that they caught it, but it was too late. He had aortic valve damage at that point.

Hello Stephanie, I would like to address your one-star review, as there appears to be some misunderstanding regarding our pharmacy policies. There are hundreds of pharmacies that clients may choose to use for their pets’ medications. I have absolutely no issue providing a written prescription so that you may fill it at the pharmacy of your choice, and this has always been our policy. However, because our staff receives hundreds of online prescription refill requests each week, we implemented a hospital policy to work directly with only two online pharmacies. Every pharmacy has its own processes, forms, and phone wait times, all of which require a significant amount of staff time. To better utilize our team’s time and continue providing quality patient care, we have limited direct pharmacy communication to two pharmacies. We do not receive any financial incentives or kickbacks from Chewy. We simply chose to work with Chewy because it is the preferred pharmacy for many of our clients. The other pharmacy we work with provides only a very small percentage of compensation and is a company that actively supports independently owned veterinary practices like mine. Ideally, medications would be purchased directly through our hospital, as this allows us to generate revenue that helps support our practice and staff. Our team spends a significant amount of time reviewing and approving prescriptions that are ultimately filled elsewhere. In those situations, the outside pharmacy receives the revenue while our hospital incurs the cost of staff time needed to process the prescription requests. The reality is quite the opposite of what was suggested in your review. It is simply not financially feasible to ask our staff to spend additional time calling prescriptions into outside pharmacies that fall outside of our established policy. Regarding the heart disease that Charlie developed, I cannot speak to the specifics of his medical situation. However, I can say that you came to me seeking a second opinion, and at that time neither the previous veterinary hospital nor I detected evidence of heart disease. Based on the information available at that time, he was appropriately referred to a specialist for further evaluation. Dr. Rebecca Williams Sierra Ranch Veterinary Clinic

The staff here is very nice however I’m pretty disappointed. I brought my cat moose in for a routine check up and was sitting in the waiting room for an hour waiting to be seen. They had an emergency situation They needed to address, which I totally understand but basically canceled my appointment on me. They rescheduled my appointment right then and there, but then I forgot to show up to the rescheduled appointment and they called me and demanded I pay a $71 cancellation fee. Normally, I would have no problem paying this fee, but they canceled on me the first time? So that’s extremely unfair and just bad business in my opinion. Not sure if I’ll be returning.

Allegra, We’re sorry to hear about your experience and appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. We strive to provide timely and compassionate care to every patient, and we understand how frustrating delays and unexpected charges can be. On the day of your scheduled visit, our medical team was responding to a critical emergency involving a patient in cardiac arrest. In situations like these, our full staff must focus on life-saving care, which can result in delays for other appointments. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this caused. Regarding the missed appointment, our no-show policy applies when an appointment is not canceled at least 24 hours in advance. All clients are required to review and sign this policy prior to scheduling, acknowledging their understanding. This policy is in place due to the high demand for appointments and the costs incurred in reserving dedicated time for each patient. While we do make exceptions in the case of true emergencies, based on the information provided when we contacted you regarding the missed appointment, it was indicted that the absence was due to forgetting. Therefore, the fee was applied in accordance with our policy. Sincerely, Dr. Williams and Team

I've taken my pup here a couple of times and the ladies here are really sweet. My boy gets really nervous at the vet but they're sweet and patient with him, which helps tremendously! They never rush the appointment, and are always transparent about costs.

BE AWARE OF THIS CLINIC FOR INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL PAPERWORK‼️‼️ I had a very disappointing experience with this clinic regarding international pet travel. I paid for health certificates for my dogs for international travel to Colombia and provided full details of my trip. I relied on their professional expertise to ensure all required documentation was completed correctly. However, I later discovered that a critical CDC requirement for re-entry into the United States was not addressed. This requirement was already in place at the time of my travel, and the clinic later acknowledged in writing that they were not aware of it and that it was an oversight on their part. As a result, I am now facing significant additional costs, delays, and complications in returning to the U.S. with my pets. When I requested a refund due to the incomplete guidance, the clinic declined and stated that it was my responsibility. I understand that international travel requirements can be complex, but when offering these services, there is a reasonable expectation that providers stay informed of existing regulations, especially those that directly impact a client’s ability to return home. Their only answer was that the fullfill their service by providing the export paperwork to me, but it's also their obligation to provide the required re- entry paperwork to their clients. I hope this feedback helps future pet owners and please save yourself a headache by looking for trustworthy options when doing your international pet travel paperwork.

Hello Daniela I wanted to follow up and provide some clarification regarding the required documentation. I understand this was not obtained during your initial visit. At that time, this requirement was newly implemented by the CDC and was not clearly outlined on the USDA website during the certification process. As of 3/19/2026 when visiting the USDA website for traveling with your pet to another country there was no indication or pop-up alert that additional paperwork was required for re-entry into the United States. The only way to access this information previously would have been to go to the CDC website and search for requirements for re-entry into the United States. When preparing international health certificates, our primary responsibility is to ensure that pets meet the entry requirements for their destination country according to the USDA requirements. Requirements for re-entry into the United States, including any necessary documentation, are the responsibility of the pet owner, as incomplete or missing paperwork may result in travel delays or denial of entry. Please note that we are not able to determine or verify all import requirements for return travel to the United States. International travel often involves additional steps that must be completed in the country of destination, such as physical examinations, laboratory testing, and endorsement of supplementary health certificates by a licensed veterinarian within that country. We always recommend that pet owners review re-entry requirements in advance and consult the appropriate authorities to ensure a smooth return process. In the case of your pets, all required documentation was completed in accordance with USDA guidelines to facilitate your pet’s travel to the destination country, and your pets were successfully cleared for and completed travel to the destination. We sincerely apologize for the delays and frustration caused by the absence of this form prior to your travel. As of today, the United States Department of Agriculture website includes a pop-up alert notifying veterinarians of this recent update to travel guidelines. We are hopeful that this added visibility will help streamline the process and make international pet travel smoother for all involved moving forward. Sincerely, Rebecca Williams, DVM

I cannot even begin to describe the amount of gratitude I feel for this team. My dog cookie has extreme anxiety and on 1/1 went from running to paralyzed legs in seconds flat. We did crate rest 5 weeks then took her to rehab here. The laughter love and warmth we feel here, the results we are seeing ....its simply phenomenal and we cant thank them enough. Love heals all. Also a shout out to Megan....cookie is really warming up to her...she has a gift of handling anxious dogs and gaining trust.

Words cannot describe how wonderful the staff are at Sierra Ranch Rehab Center. I brought my 10.5 year old white german shepherd, Nala for arthritis rehab, as well a TPLO surgery rehab. Her rehab tech, Megan has been a god send and Nala absolutely adores her, and I like to think she has become a staff favorite with her sassy attitude :) Nala recovered wonderfully from her TPLO surgery, and the ongoing rehab has done wonders for her arthritis. On top of everything, Dr. Williams & Megan saved Nala's life a few days ago. Turns out a mass on her spleen ruptured the morning of her rehab appointment - we had no idea she had it. Dr. Williams and Megan immediately assessed her and called the nearby ER to have her admitted. She had emergency surgery that afternoon and is recovering at home. We are eternally grateful to the staff and look forward to resuming Nala's rehab once she is feeling better. Highly recommend!!!!
