Five of my companion animals were clients at Southpoint Animal Hospital for 16 years, and they saw one vet. In 2023, Southpoint was acquired, and it now operates as a subsidiary of the Mission Pet Health veterinary network.
In May 2026, my 16-year-old border collie rescue, Riley, crashed. Over the next 3½ weeks, I spent $3,000, saw or spoke with four different vets, and got few answers. Bloodwork was only viewable on phones and computers, and I was never given copies to track trends myself. I paid for X-rays I never saw. Southpoint vets asked me for the results of the Raleigh ER vet’s X-rays and ultrasound, and one told me he had not reviewed them.
In June 2026, Riley and I ended up at the NC State Vet School. I spent another $3,000, and in less than 24 hours, we had a diagnosis: kidney failure and a displaced necrotic spleen from gastric torsion (GDV). After he crossed the bridge, his veterinarian said to me, “How did they not know? His organs were in the wrong place.” And I wept.
My new kitten now goes to a privately owned vet in Raleigh, with one vet and full medical records emailed after every visit.
With compassion and grace. Be well.

Ms Brown, we are very sorry for the loss of Riley and recognize how difficult and emotional his illness and passing were. We also appreciate the many years you entrusted us with the care of your pets and the relationships you developed with members of our team during that time.
We take concerns regarding patient care, communication, and access to medical information seriously. Because we respect the privacy of our clients and patients, we cannot appropriately address the specifics of an individual patient's medical care in a public forum. We would, however, be happy to discuss any outstanding concerns regarding Riley's care or medical records with you directly.
We are grateful for the many years your family was part of the Southpoint community, and we wish you and your new kitten well.
Dr. Garcia was wonderful with Abby and her mom. Explained everything clearly and provided options on how to proceed. The techs and staff truly love animals and it shows.
It's the best service I have received. My dachshund is 15 years old. The service they gives him, and show so much care. This is the 3rd Vet.,and I am so pleased with them. Thank you South Park, the hold team. Emma Heggins.

Thank you for your kind words! We're so pleased to hear that our team has provided the care your dachshund deserves. We look forward to your next visit!
Finding a veterinarian you trust is priceless, and I am incredibly grateful for this team. They have consistently treated my pets with kindness, patience, and excellent medical care. What stood out to me most was their understanding and respect for my background in veterinary medicine while also recognizing that it's different when it's your own pet and emotions are involved.
One moment that especially stood out was Cubby Bear's blood pressure appointment. We had both been carrying some anxiety from a previous experience, yet the kindness, patience, and understanding shown by the team turned what I expected to be a stressful visit into a genuinely positive one.
During a recent health scare with my dog, they were compassionate, efficient, and supportive every step of the way. Their communication was excellent, and I never felt dismissed or unheard. It is clear that everyone at this clinic genuinely cares about the animals they treat and the people who love them.
I would trust them with any of my pets and recommend them without hesitation.

EVERYONE at SPAH is a delight to encounter and Dr. Doyle is superb. He is so knowledgeable about our Dog and willing to explain what is going on to me. Zak had a wealth of information for us before Dr. Doyle's arrival. I am so glad to have SPAH and so wonderful for their care for my dog and how they relate to ME!
