I cannot say enough wonderful things about Summit Vet and the incredible care they have provided for my dog! My dog struggles with fear-based reactivity, and nothing in the world terrifies her more than going to the vet. Before finding Summit, we had tried other fear-free veterinary practices, but every visit ultimately ended with my dog needing to be fully sedated just to receive basic medical care. The experience was incredibly stressful and traumatizing for both of us. Since coming to Summit, Rosanna and Christina have completely transformed our experience. Through an extraordinary amount of patience, compassion, and dedication, they have worked with my dog to slowly build her confidence and trust. Rather than forcing her through uncomfortable situations, they have taken the time to understand her fears, respect her boundaries, and help her feel safe. The progress has been nothing short of incredible. My dog can now be handled, receive vaccines, and get the medical care she needs without sedation AND without any reactive behavior. Something I truly never thought would be possible! What makes Summit so special is that they don’t just provide excellent veterinary care. They truly care about the emotional well-being of the animals they treat. Rosanna and Christina have created an environment where my dog feels safe, loved, and understood, and the difference it has made in her life is immeasurable. I am beyond grateful to have found a veterinary team that saw beyond my dog’s fear and gave her the patience and compassion she needed to thrive. I would wholeheartedly recommend Summit Vet to absolutely anyone, but especially to those with anxious, fearful, or reactive pets. They have truly changed what veterinary care looks like for us, and I cannot thank them enough!

Wow. This is hands down the best vet that I have ever been to. All of the staff was genuinely friendly and compassionate and we really liked Dr. Belvins. Chelsea was incredible and she helped us every step of the way! She was amazing. They were able to get us into the clinic right away (when other vets were booked for months). They didn't push anything, but made sure my dog Faith had everything she needed to ensure she was healthy (without breaking the bank). Chelsea kept us informed from the beginning, listened and communicated effectively and compassionately. Honestly, just the little things about this vet really make it stand out. They brought us water and have comfort menus for the people and the animals. Chelsea gave Faith treats and gave her a doggy cupcake and bandana on the way out for being good! Our dog loved them and it made us smile. When I had a question about the bill, Chelsea was so patient and broke everything down step by step. They were just wonderful and we will definitely be coming here as our clinic from now on. I cannot say enough good things/recommend enough! 10/10.

No one ever prepares you for the day you have to say goodbye to your service animal. When I got my boy, I never fully took into consideration that I would outlive the very partner who truly kept me above water. Making the heart-shattering decision to send my loved one over the rainbow bridge was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I love him so truly, and he was my entire world. During the darkest moment for my mom and me, the staff here was beyond incredible and genuinely heartfelt. We cried so hard, and they truly shed tears right along with us. Their compassion speaks for itself—it is completely obvious that this is not just a job to them, they treat you like family. I would recommend this wonderful team to absolutely anyone. They make the trip completely worth it. Apollo you are LOVED and MISSED dearly my boy

No one ever expects or knows what the outcome will be when you take your fur baby to the vet. When we first welcome them into our lives, we never truly consider the heartbreaking reality that we will outlive these precious commodities. Recently, my son and I had to make the absolutely heart-shattering decision to send our loved one over the rainbow bridge. During the hardest moment of our lives, the staff here was beyond incredible and genuinely heartfelt. We cried so hard, and they truly shed tears right along with us. Their compassion speaks for itself—it is completely obvious that this is not just a job to them, they treat you like family. I would recommend this wonderful family of staff to absolutely anyone and everyone. They make the trip completely worth it.

Very caring practice! Entire staff is friendly, helpful and you can tell they genuinely care about their “clients”. Most welcoming facility. Stayed in communication with us throughout the whole day of our pet’s surgery. Called everyday for a week to check on her. Highly recommend!

The best vet visit we have had with our anxious German Shepherd. She typically scares people with her loud bark and stay very close to me. Taylin was so comfortable with the people that interacted with her. She was affectionate with them and not glued to me.

I’m very disappointed with my experience at Summit Veterinary Care. I brought my 70-pound dog to Summit for a cracked toenail. The nail was not dangling, there was no infection, and my dog was not showing signs of significant pain. I had also given him trazodone approximately two hours before the appointment because I knew he was nervous. I was required to pay $75 to hold the appointment, which I was told would be applied toward my final bill. I then waited approximately two hours before being seen. I was ultimately charged $175, but I did not feel that the services provided justified that cost. I subsequently took my dog to another veterinarian, where the technician was able to trim the damaged nail. They confirmed that it was not infected, and the total charge was only $68. I contacted Summit afterward to request a refund of the $175 charge and gave them an opportunity to respond. Unfortunately, I have not received a response. I understand that veterinary medicine can involve additional costs when sedation or treatment is medically necessary. My concern is that, in this situation, another veterinary professional was able to address the nail without those additional measures. I am sharing my experience because I believe pet owners should have clear communication about what is being recommended, what services are actually going to be performed, and what they can expect to pay. At this point, I am still requesting that Summit Veterinary Care refund the $175 charge.

Thank you for sharing your concerns. We are glad to hear that "Arden" was ultimately able to receive treatment. We would like to clarify what occurred during your visit. Your dog was extremely anxious and nervous, and you reported that you had been unable to touch or examine his injured foot for approximately three days prior to the appointment. Because he was painful, anxious, and protective of his feet, our medical team could not safely examine or treat the broken toenail without sedation. As a Fear Free urgent care practice, our priority is to minimize fear, stress, and the risk of injury to both the patient and our staff. Sedation for a painful, broken toenail in a highly anxious and protective patient is consistent with our standard of care. Before proceeding, our team discussed the recommended treatment plan and associated costs with you. You were informed of the fee before the visit. The fee covers the urgent-care appointment and the doctor's time spent consulting with you, assessing your dog, visually examining the affected area, and developing a safe treatment plan. It is therefore not refundable simply because you chose not to proceed with the recommended treatment. While we understand that cost is an important consideration and that you may have found a lower-cost option elsewhere, our fees reflect the care, time, and safety protocols involved in treating patients in a Fear Free environment. We also recommended blood work before prescribing anti-inflammatory medication. This is recommended to help assess whether a patient can safely receive certain medications and to identify underlying concerns that could increase the risk of adverse effects. You declined the recommended laboratory testing, so we could not complete that portion of the treatment plan. We understand that you ultimately chose to have your dog's toenail treated elsewhere, and we are glad that he received the care he needed. However, we respectfully disagree with the characterization that our team failed to provide appropriate care. The treatment plan discussed with you was based on your dog's behavior, level of pain, the nature of the injury, and our medical and Fear Free protocols. We also expect communication with our staff to remain respectful. During your visit, concerns were expressed in a manner that our staff experienced as disrespectful, including a threat to post a one-star review. Our client code of conduct, which you signed, outlines expectations regarding respectful communication and online conduct. We ask that those expectations be honored. Our goal is always to provide safe, compassionate, medically appropriate care while minimizing fear and stress for our patients. We remain glad that your dog was ultimately treated and hope he has a smooth recovery.
