If you’ve ever represented yourself in a lawsuit, you already know how frustrating and overwhelming it can be to navigate the legal system on your own. At some point, you will need a registered process server to handle various legal documents. After becoming increasingly dissatisfied with the RPS company I had used for years, I decided to take my business elsewhere. I found Swift Legal through the California Association of Judgment Professionals, where several members highly recommended the company. When I called to ask about their fees, the person I spoke with suggested that I talk to the president, Frank Kaul, who is an expert in writs and levies. Frank called me back, and we spoke at length about my judgments and the difficult litigation I was still dealing with. He listened with genuine empathy and kindness and took the time to understand my situation and what I had been going through. I have been using Swift Legal ever since, and I couldn’t be happier. They are knowledgeable, experienced, responsive, and professional, but what truly sets them apart is that they genuinely care. They make me feel like I have a partner in this years-long legal battle and that I don’t have to figure everything out on my own. I only wish I had found them sooner. If you ever need a registered process server, I cannot recommend Swift Legal highly enough. You will be in excellent hands.

I initially chose SwiftLegal because they are a local business with over 40 years of experience. Unfortunately, as a non-legal professional using their standard service, the process was highly anxiety-inducing and ultimately unsuccessful. YMMV, but here is a breakdown of my experience: 1. Extremely Slow Communication: Getting a simple update often took over a week. Whenever I called or emailed, the standard response was that they "needed to talk to the server first," which meant waiting another day or two just to get an answer. 2. Required Constant Follow ups: The process lacked automation and proactivity. I had to initiate emails at every single stage just to get status updates, suggestions for next steps, or proof of service. 3. Mediocre Execution: The entire process dragged on for a month with 7 total attempts. Three attempts failed due to "no access to the entrance," and the rest were "no answer." I will give them credit for continuing to try past the standard 5 attempts, but the serve still failed. The Alternative: Out of desperation, I eventually hired another company (A*), headquartered in Seattle. The difference was night and day: 1. Real-Time Transparency: I received immediate SMS and email updates for every attempt, complete with timestamped photos. 2. Tactical Serving: After hitting "no access" hurdles on their first two attempts, their server quickly adapted their strategy. By the fourth attempt, they successfully got the party to agree to an appointment. They even went above and beyond with prompt follow-ups and visits during the weekend to push for an EARLIER and successful serve. 3. Fast & Efficient: They made multiple attempts every single day or every other day. They completed a successful serve in less than half the time SwiftLegal spent trying. 4. Better Value: I paid for their standard, regular service, and the total out-of-pocket cost was actually less than SwiftLegal. While I wanted to support a long-standing local business, the lack of communication, slow pacing, and rigid serving tactics at SwiftLegal made a stressful situation much worse.

I have been a lawyer in San Francisco for just over 30 years. I have been working with Swift Legal in Redwood City for a few years now. They just did a terrific job for me on a rush assignment dealing with a particularly difficult Sheriff's Office. They moved heaven and earth to get something done in one day. This is the second time they basically dropped everything and got something done for me that was pretty difficult. They have also finessed a few things in the San Mateo Sheriff's Office. (Frank knows the local Sheriffs and is careful to follow the procedures in each office -- this one needs a declaration re electronic writ even after the change in the SER forms etc...) If you have work in Nor Cal, I can't recommend them highly enough. (I should also mention that they just opened an office right across from CT Corporation in Glendale)

Edited: Received proof of service! Thanks!!

Response from the owner · 8 months ago

We understand the stress associated with court deadlines and the importance of receiving timely confirmation. To clarify the timeline, we received your order on February 17, and the documents were personally served by our registered process server that same day. As we advised on February 18, a Proof of Service must be carefully and accurately prepared to include all service information, and then be signed by the server before filing, which also occurred on that date. Once submitted, the court clerk manages the processing time; we cannot track or expedite the process once submitted for Filing. The court has now completed its review and returned the filed Proof of Service, back-dated to February 18. We sent this document to you via email today, February 24, at 11:01 AM. Regarding your inquiry about additional validation, please note that courts do not require photos, audio recordings, or third-party notifications to validate service. The legally recognized evidence is the signed Proof of Service filed with the court. Expectations regarding external notifications, such as those from Meta, are separate from official court filing procedures. We appreciate your patience while the court processed this filing and are happy to answer any further questions you may have.

Very happy with their services. They were professional, reasonably priced and quick. I contacted them about having someone served, filled out the order form on their website and they had them served within two days. I could not be more impressed with them. I will use them in the future when I need process serving in the Redwood area.

There was a miscommunication that put us in a difficult spot, but they chose to work with us to resolve the issue, even though they didn’t have to. Their flexibility allowed us to keep our client happy, and their team was professional, responsive, and genuinely helpful. Thank you to Don and his team for going above and beyond.

This place is amazing. I called around 1pm requesting service by 4:30 pm and they were extremely helpful, answered all my questions, and served documents prior to 4pm! Would recommend them to anyone! Big shout out to Sheena and the gentleman working phones in the process service department on 10-10-25 (did not catch his name) :)

Claimed they served documents but I never received anything..

Response from the owner · a year ago

We looked into it, and at the request of our client, these documents were served to you by Service By Mail, meaning they were mailed to you via USPS, which is an acceptable/valid means of service by the Court. Unfortunately, it means that once we post it, whether or not you receive the documents is at the mercy of USPS. If you still have not received them, we would recommend reaching out to the other party & notifying them that you haven't received the documents.

Absolutely incredible service. Everyone on their team goes the extra mile and every single individual I have personally had the pleasure of dealing with goes out of their way to help and offer accurate and expedient advice on how to file properly. I won't bring my business anywhere else. Dan in particular stands out above all others,he almost made me feel as if he was my own attorney and was fantastic to work with.
