Divorce?!?!? Cheryl Miller and Karen Fernandez are truly and without question who you should hire. Although each person's situation is different, Cheryl and Karen had a disturbing amount of challenges to address with my divorce. Six-thousand pages of text messages, restraining order, unnecessary visitation schedule, spousal support, child support, court ordered therapy, uncooperative spouse, on and on and on and on. The most challenging aspect, they took on my divorce case in the middle of the process as I fired the law firm I originally hired.
No one ever "wins" in regard to divorce, especially children when children are involved. That said, Cheryl and Karen produced the absolute very best possible outcome for me and my children.
Although I will never ever get remarried, as such, never getting divorced again. I will continue to contact Cheryl and Karen for years to come, just to say Hello and Thank You.

had a very disappointing experience with this law firm and found the staff to be extremely unprofessional and disorganized.
The firm initially agreed to take my case and had me sign paperwork indicating that I would not proceed with another attorney. I relied on the firm to handle my case and did not seek other representation. However, the firm then took approximately two months to review my case. As the deadline approached, the firm withdrew from my case, stating that there was no longer enough time to prepare the necessary documentation. I felt that the firm effectively abandoned my case after delaying its review, leaving me with very little time to find another attorney and protect my legal rights.
I had a very organized case with extensive documentation and evidence. However, throughout the process, I was repeatedly assigned different legal assistants, and each time I had to explain my case and circumstances all over again. It was frustrating to feel that there was no continuity or familiarity with my case.
Communication was also extremely poor. There were multiple occasions when I would not receive a response for several days, and in some instances, weeks. Despite repeatedly trying to follow up, I often felt that I was the one responsible for pushing the case forward.
During the time the firm reviewed my case, I was never given the opportunity to speak directly with the attorney handling the matter. My communication was exclusively with legal assistants, who, in my opinion, did not appear adequately prepared to address my legal questions or fully understand the issues involved.
I specifically explained that the EEOC had given me a 90-day deadline to file my Right to Sue paperwork. On September 2, after receiving very little communication from the firm, I called multiple times to ask whether there had been any progress. I also reminded the legal assistant that we had approximately one month remaining to submit the necessary paperwork.
I was then told that the firm had decided to withdraw from my case because they believed there was not enough time to prepare the necessary documentation. I was advised to find another law firm.
I found this extremely frustrating because, according to the timeline communicated to me, there were still approximately 30 days remaining. Had the firm communicated with me properly and reviewed my case in a timely manner, I could have avoided losing valuable time and could have sought representation elsewhere much sooner.
I understand that a law firm has the right to decline or withdraw from a case. However, what I find unacceptable is the lack of communication, organization, continuity, and timely action throughout the process. Clients should not be encouraged to rely exclusively on a firm, especially after signing paperwork not to proceed with another attorney, only to have the firm withdraw when a critical deadline is approaching.
Overall, this experience caused me significant frustration, stress, and a loss of valuable time. I sincerely wish I had known earlier that the firm would not be able to move forward with my case, because I could have taken my case to another firm that was better prepared to handle it.

I am writing this with immense heartbreak and frustration over how this firm neglected my children’s future.
I trusted Cheryle with my divorce and child support case, believing my family’s rights would be protected. My ex-husband is a senior engineer, yet due to pure negligence and zero effort from the attorney, my three children were forced to accept the minimum wage child support.
Cheryle didn't bother to look at my file until 24 hours before the court date. She failed to conduct a basic Discovery process to uncover his true income, misled me into believing I could "just fix it later," and concealed the fact that accepting this minimum support legally locks me out of filing for a modification for a whole year. This carelessness effectively wasted my children’s right to proper financial support for years to come—support they fully deserve based on their father's actual salary.
To make matters worse, she bailed on my court date at the last minute, and when I went to the office to ask questions, the staff treated me with extreme condescension and hostility. If you are a parent looking for an attorney who will actually fight for your kids' rights and treat you with human dignity, stay away from Carlson Law Firm. They treated my family as a quick transaction and failed my children completely.
