The worst meal of my life! We had a party of 8 and we all hated the food so much. It was honestly terrible- not one dish that was even edible. The menu we were stuck with had an Asian influence and I normally love this type of food. Of all the options in Napa- I’m so bummed we went here 🙄.

One should not try to repeat good memories. I was here some 20 years ago and it was a terrific experience. Now not so. The dishes were overpriced, served lukewarm, the service was trying but seriously lacking guidance and oversight. Of course, this is a training ground but they charge real money and the alumni usually have a good reputation. I would not go there anymore. Not worth the money.

Simply put, the best meal we've had out in a long time. Highly recommend. Great substitutions for vegetarians.

What an amazing place. First, the grounds and building are beautiful. It's a smaller building on the Culinary Institute of America campus, which was originally the Christian Brothers winery. I love that the restaurant is run by the current graduating students. The epitome of fine dining. All of our servers were friendly and engaging. The food was incredible, with everything taken from the garden or handmade in house like the sausages. There were 4 of us and we tried just about everything on the menu. I can honestly say there wasn't a bad dish to be had. We had to share each dish with our group just to show each other how good each dish was. Wonderful flavor and presentation. Definitely will be back.

We were lucky enough to find a table for four at Gatehouse Restaurant, the student-run fine-dining restaurant at the Culinary Institute of America in St. Helena. We chose the four-course meal with wine pairings, selecting dishes from four different sections of the menu. We tried the crudo, strattapreti, gnocchi, grilled ribeye, and branzino. The ribeye was a bit thin and bland, but everything else was delicious. The wine pairings complemented each course very well. Overall, we had a wonderful dinner and really enjoyed the experience!
