I needed to get my engagement ring appraised for insurance purposes. I sent a request through their website on a Sunday afternoon and received a reply the following morning that I could come by at the time I requested. When we arrived, the receptionist greeted us and was very friendly. We were seen by Shoko Abe within a couple minutes of arriving. She was incredibly thorough and also cleaned my jewelry 😍 (although I imagine this was to help with the appraisal process, but still I nice benefit). She also let us come see the cleaning process and other machines they use in the office for appraising jewelry. The appraisal was sent to my email and also given to me as a (laminated) hard copy for my records. Perhaps another benefit of going in person is that the ring never had to be out of my possession (minus the short time that it was being cleaned) and never left the office suite we were in. I was so anxious about putting the jewelry in the mail to get the piece appraised. The appointment took just over 30 minutes (my ring is custom handmade which may have required a lengthy appraisal process) but all in all it was *very* efficient. Thank you so much again!

We had an incredible experience with GAL and especially with Shoko. She walked us through each step of the appraisal process and really took the time to educate us, so our understanding of jewelry and diamonds has grown so much. Shoko was warm, kind, and inviting the entire time. We had a lot of questions and she never rushed us – she gave thoughtful, professional opinions, which we really appreciate in an industry where you can often feel guarded and unsure who to trust. I came in to appraise my and my husband’s entire jewelry and watch collection, and everything was done thoroughly and clearly. I’ll be taking all of our paperwork to Jewelers Mutual to get our pieces insured, and I feel very confident doing so thanks to her work.
