I had such a great experience here! I live out of town, so I really appreciated the opportunity to get most of my alterations done in a single day while I explored the area. They did a great job working with a dress that was a little complicated and was too big. As a very short person, I have lots of experience with alterations, and this was by far the most relaxed and comfortable I have ever felt. My dress turned out gorgeous and exactly how I had imagined. Worth the drive, no question.

I had the most PERFECT experience with Carissa and Abigail both!! I came in with a floor model dress that was much too big but I was my dream dress. Carissa and Abigail basically created a custom dress for me. We had many many alterations (including cutting the whole thing in half and shortening the bodice) and they blew me away. I’ve attached some photos because their work is truly incredible. Do NOT be alarmed that Carissa doesn’t work off measurements, I think that’s what makes them so special is how they truly make your dress ideal to your body. AND after a very stressful couple weeks leading up the wedding, I had lost some weight and the dress had gotten just a touch big. Carissa had me come in the Friday before my wedding and got it absolutely perfect AGAIN 😂 gilded thimble went above and beyond for me. I would recommend all my girls to go to them!

I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about Carissa and Abigail! They took my godmother’s wedding dress from the 1980s and transformed it into the wedding dress of my absolute dreams. Being able to wear something with so much sentimental meaning while still feeling completely like myself was incredibly special, and they made that possible.
From the very beginning, Carissa and Abigail were unbelievably kind, talented, patient, and encouraging. Every appointment felt like such a positive experience. They always gave me the sweetest confidence boosts and made me feel genuinely beautiful and excited about my dress. You can tell that they truly care about the brides they work with, not just the dresses.
The transformation they created was beyond anything I could have imagined. They respected the history and sentimental value of my godmother’s dress while turning it into something that felt completely unique and perfect for me. Their attention to detail, creativity, and craftsmanship are incredible.
I will forever be grateful to Carissa and Abigail for giving such an important family dress a new life and creating something I will treasure forever. They didn’t just alter a wedding dress. They made an already meaningful piece of my family’s history part of one of the most special days of my life.

I cannot begin to say enough good things about my experience at The Gilded Thimble. I live quite a distance away, but was recommended to them by the shop where I purchased my dress. This was undoubtedly one of the most beneficial recommendations I have ever received.
Carissa kindly offered a “sew while you wait” session so I wouldn’t need to repeatedly make the many hour-long trip, which she graciously rescheduled when unexpected problems in my life occurred. When I arrived for the fitting she accurately determined the problems of the dress with a quick and precise investigation. Based on the scale of the work I was worried that it would take them a long period, but they completed everything in half the time I feared it might take.
The dress is beautiful and now fits me wonderfully. I cannot recommend The Gilded Thimble enough based on their care, work quality, and price point. If you are questioning whether or not to get your alterations done here, stop guessing and go schedule an appointment.

Carissa and Abigail are absolutely incredible! I had a very bad experience at an alteration place in Roanoke where I had had multiple appointments and had concerns about the appearance of my back skin in my strapless dress because the bodice still didn’t fit right. This first place told me “that’s just how strapless dresses are”. I was crushed. My wedding planner recommended The Gilded Thimble and they reassured me they would make it perfect and they did! I went in just hoping that they could fix the back and I left with my dream dress. Carissa recommended adding a cat eye to my gown and Abigail hand sewed it on. I felt like a real life princess on my wedding day. Their shop is beautiful and they make you feel so welcome and comfortable. I would recommend to anyone, especially if you have a dress crisis, they got you!
