As of a few months ago, it seems it's under a new owner. Walked in with my dog like I used to, asked to use one of the self-bathing rooms, and they said they don't offer that anymore. I literally walked around the store to see if there was anything I would want. They've changed some of the structure too. It's really not as good as it was. I loved having the option of being able to wash my dog-- using their shampoo and conditioner and then drying her with the hair dryer and towels they gave. Too bad things have to change. I really have no reason to go here anymore.

Hi Lisa, thank you for the honest feedback. There has been a change, though it's not as recent as it might seem: The Green K9 joined Pet and Home Care about two years ago, and we've been a locally owned Frederick County business since 1999. When we reworked the space for more full-service grooming, the self-wash rooms were retired. We know they were a favorite, and we're sorry it wasn't here when you came in.
We'd hate to lose you over the tub, though, because there's a lot more here worth a visit. Our shelves carry only food and treats we'd feed our own pets, the kind of brands you won't find at the big box stores, and our staff can actually help you pick the right one for your girl. Shopping here keeps your dollars in Frederick County and supports a small local team that genuinely loves what they do.
If you'd like to come back for a bath, our groomers would be happy to take care of her. Mention this review when you call or come in and we'll make sure it's worth the trip. 301-PET-CARE

I love this place. I take my dog almost every month for grooming with Kayleen She’s so wonderful with my very nervous dog. So patient and understanding and gentle. Highly recommend for all your pet needs!

Pat and Home Care has a very knowledgeable staff and a well stocked store with everything you would need for your pet. I have always had top-notch customer service every time I’ve been into the establishment. From the dog sitting to the grooming to helping me with purchasing the dog food for my dogs they’ve always been very helpful and knowledgeable. I highly recommend them.

Can I give ZERO STARS INSTEAD?
Shame on Green K9 Urbana and how they treat longtime loyal customers.
Long story short was helping a friend get her dog to the groomer. They said arrive by 9:30 and they can still do the grooming. Raced said dog there, ran into the building (rolling my ankle on the way IYKYK), and got to the desk at 9:30 on the dot (honestly might have been 9:29 when I walked in the door). Was told sorry the groomer said she can’t take her it’s 9:30. I said “you told my friend be here by 9:30 so what’s the issue?” The front counter person said “It’s 9:30 so the groomer can’t she’s very busy today.” I said “well what if it was 9:29 and 59 seconds?” Counter person said “well we aren’t an actually keeping a timer?” Yet that’s exactly what they were doing. SHAME on this local neighborhood business for treating anyone this way.
We personally left Green K9 back when Marni sold it because it’s been totally downhill since and this is just another instance. Hopefully this business is on the way out in our town. Bye.

Heather, I'm Tiff, the owner. I'm sorry this morning was frustrating, and I hope your ankle is okay. This appointment was scheduled for 9:00, and we normally offer a 10 minute grace period. Our team extended that to 9:25 as a courtesy, but our groomers' days are fully booked, and by 9:30 we had to move on to the next pet. We've been in touch with our client directly, and she's already rescheduled. I'm proud of our team. Since taking over, we've raised wages and added benefits, and they work hard every day for the pets in our care.

Our dog was injured while getting groomed. She came home refusing to walk and limping. The manager took no responsibility. We had to take our dog to the vet and she is now on pain medication. The manager offered credit for a future nail trim. We will not be going back to this establishment and do not recommend them as they are not safe with caring for dogs.

Caring for every pup safely and gently is the heart of what we do, and we take a worry like this deeply to heart. Bailey was happy, comfortable, and walking normally when she left us, so we were so relieved to hear her vet identified the issue as a leg strain and that she's on the road to recovery.
When it was brought to our attention that her quick had been nicked during her nail trim, we refunded that trim in full to make things right — and we were grateful we could resolve it with you at the time. We care deeply about every dog and every family who walks through our doors.

Kayleen is always wonder with taking care of Bentley’s nails. He is a reactive dog and she makes him very comfortable in getting his pedicure. I wouldn’t trust anyone else. She is great!

We have been going here for 5 years until today. The new management is horrible. Major communication issue and they are not taking any accountability for their role with the problem. Don’t waste your time or money!!
