Customers frequently praise the shop for same-day availability, detailed digital reports with photos, and transparent communication that helps clients prioritize repairs based on budget. Services include pre-purchase inspections, oil changes, brake work, and diagnostics for various vehicle types. However, several low-star reviews criticize the pricing for routine maintenance like oil changes and tire rotations, with some customers describing the costs as excessive compared to other local providers.

I brought my Range Rover Sport SVR to them twice for a pre-purchase inspection. The car I was buying was at Land Rover Mission Veijo. The staff at Mechanic OC worked with the scheduling between them and the dealership. The first inspection found a few things of not. The second one confirmed the dealership took carenof everything correctly. They were very professional and easy to work with. I would highly recommend working with them especially if you are an out of town buyer like I was.
A good mechanic is like a good doctor or dentist. They can be hard to come by and you want to keep the good ones. Nester and his staff are great. I have been working with them for many years now. They have never tried to sell me anything I did not need, educate me with the work I do need, and work with me budgeted repairs by identify the most needed and which repairs we can postpone. I recommend his staff and service.
If you don't want to read too far just know I am very happy working with and recommending this shop to others. I called first thing in the morning for a Pre Purchase Inspection. They were able to fit me in very quickly, same day. The data they were able to present to me online was comprehensive, well documented and easy to understand if you are not a mechanic. They were very friendly, professional and accommodating through the entire process. They did find some items I had missed when just looking at the car myself and now I am well informed to either buy the car or walk away, which is still TBD. If I do purchase the car I will bring it straight back to them to take care of the items they found to bring it back to full health.
I'm really glad I found this shop. Their communication is really excellent in explaining everything. My old mechanics were at Mission Viejo Motors. Since they closed a few years ago I've tried several others. The Mechanic OC is the first one who really makes me feel like a valued customer.
Services: Air & cabin filter replacement, Auto battery replacement, Auto maintenance, Oil change
Great experience starting with online communication thru Yelp and ending with me picking up my car! They did a great job of letting me know what work my car needed, what the price would be and was able to do it all in the same day! Super nice people to work with and will def be brining my Jag F Pace back for all future services!
Price assessment: Reasonable price
Services: Air & cabin filter replacement, Vehicle Inspection, Oil change, Service not listed
Best $55 i ever spent! Brought in my car, they did a comprehensive inspection and found multiple things wrong with the car and provided a printout EXPLAINGING EVERYTHING. Highly recommend they seemed so trustworthy and really took the time to explain what needed attention now and what could wait. 10/10!!!
$166 for an oil change and tire rotation is completely ludicrous. They might be great mechanics, but they’re running a scam on oil changes.
Price assessment: Overpriced
Services: Oil change

Hi Anita. I apologize for any confusion. Our standard procedure when making an appointment is telling the customer an average price range for their service and repair, and a more accurate price once we have all of the details like vin number engine size or present issues.
A European oil change is more costly due to the use of synthetic oils and extended service procedures.
Our policy is to not proceed with any recommended work unless we have verbal or written agreement of the price.
We followed our procedure and did a free vehicle inspection and we presented our inspection and told you the price once again.
The approved work was to do the oil change and the tire rotation.
We understand you might of had a budget in mind and Im always happy to discuss pricing before the work is approved. We may not be the lowest price option but were committed to delivering the highest quality work.

I take my BMW here every year for the annual range extender oil change needed for the i3. always reasonably priced very polite and they explain everything with options so the car owner can make the best decision about what to do and when to do it. Way better than going to the dealer for sure!
