The storehouse does an incredible job of supporting the community. They are generous with their food donations, provide pet food, and even offer free vaccinations. I genuinely appreciate everything they do, and overall, it is a wonderful resource. However, there is one serious issue that I believe needs to be addressed: the behavior of an older man in sunglasses and hat who works there. We have heard concerns about his behavior from others for some time, although we have generally avoided interacting with him ourselves. Unfortunately, we recently had an unpleasant experience that made it clear why people have raised concerns. My mother has a disability, so we use her valid disabled parking placard and prefer to park in the designated accessible spaces. On this particular visit, there were two open spaces just a few feet away. Because traffic on Broadway/Edith was heavy, it was easier and safer for us to enter from the other direction to reach the parking area. He ran in front of our car... This man stepped in front of our vehicle and repeatedly shouted, “ONE WAY DISTRIBUTION HOURS!” I tried to explain that we were simply attempting to park in one of those disabled spaces, but he interrupted me repeatedly and refused to listen and shouted, “NO! ONE WAY!” His aggressive and confrontational attitude left no room for a reasonable conversation. He ultimately forced us to back out and drive all the way around, only to park in the very same space that had been available just a few feet away. I understand that traffic flow and distribution procedures may be necessary, and I have no issue with reasonable rules being enforced. However, rules can be bent when it's for a legitimate reason, especially when accommodating someone with a disability. There is a difference between maintaining order and blindly enforcing rules that hurt others. A little understanding, flexibility, and common courtesy would have gone a long way in this situation. No one was asking for special treatment without reason; we were simply trying to access an available disabled parking space a few feet away. Rules should exist to facilitate an orderly and fair process, not to justify unnecessary hostility or a complete lack of compassion. I want to emphasize that I value this organization and the generosity it shows to the community. That is precisely why I hope management takes this concern seriously and does something to correct this. One person's consistently rude, confrontational behavior should not undermine the otherwise positive work of an organization that does so much good. If this individual happens to be responsible for directing traffic, he should be expected to do so with patience, professionalism, and especially understanding.

There was mold on a lot. The fresh fruit wasn't good :( not to mention a lot of out dated stuff. At least for the stuff that still had a date on it. My diaughter tried cooking the eggs for breakfast n they turned grey when cooked? Not a good sighn ;( ima try again because we need it . Is it first to come get the good stuff? Cuz i did go at the last hour. ? Any helpful tips to get the amazing stuff you all have? I wish i had been nore informed about it. The staff were i guess just done by that time . Even the woman helping me wasn't to friendly with me . I wish i had known about the pet food. Sure could have used it . Anyways ima attmept one more time. Fingers crossed.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're glad we were able to provide a large grocery cart, but we're very sorry to hear that some of the items did not meet your expectations. Providing safe, quality food to our community is extremely important to us. Before food is distributed, our volunteers and staff work hard to remove any items that are open, damaged, moldy, or otherwise not suitable. We do distribute some frozen items that may display a "use or freeze by" or "best by" date but remain safe because they have been properly frozen prior to that date. If any items you received were not usable, we would appreciate the opportunity to learn more so we can review what happened. FYI our Pet Food Pantry is held on the third Friday of each month, when we provide dog and cat food while supplies last. We hope you can make that part of your next visit. Our staff and volunteers genuinely care about every person who comes to the Storehouse. While distribution days can be very busy, we never want anyone to feel unheard or uncared for. We appreciate your feedback and welcome the opportunity to speak with you directly so we can better understand your experience and continue improving our service.

A The Staff Members are ALL very unfriendly and unprofessional and have an odd sense of entitlement vibe👎, I don't think it's right to treat mentally ill people as if they are lesser than you or below you or like it's coming out of your personal pocket, staff should be greaful for being able to BENEFIT themselves from this non profit organization as well (which they absolutely do!!). SPREAD KINDNESS NOT AN OPPORTUNITY TO FLEX YOUR AUTHORITY. JS ☮️🙏☮️

We're sorry to hear that you left feeling this way. Everyone who comes to the Storehouse deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, and that's the standard we expect from our team. Every week, we serve hundreds of people facing many different challenges, including mental health concerns, disabilities, and financial hardship. Our goal is to make sure that as many people as possible leave with food and they are treated with kindness while they are at the food pantry. Because our inventory depends entirely on donations from our community partners and supporters, there are times when we must follow distribution guidelines to ensure we have enough food for everyone who depends on us. Our staff and volunteers care deeply about the people we serve, and we're grateful for the opportunity to help our neighbors every day. If you had an experience that fell short of those expectations, we would welcome the opportunity to learn more. Please feel free to contact us at (505) 842-6491 or [email protected] so we can better understand what happened.

I think it's a great place to go to get food, and save. me and my mom go almost every month, were always in the first 25 people in line. I don't mind the wait and I won't criticize them, I appreciate it and all the hard work and dedication , they even help you to your car with the shopping carts and take them back, they even have a bathroom friendly environment , they always give plenty of tomatoes , apples, oranges, this time peaches and bananas, pretty much you name it , frozen meats , sandwich meat, cheese sometimes potato chips, donuts, oh yeah a whole cake, excellent and canned foods not to mention, breads and baked items, it was like Christmas eating the Biscochitos, not always the same snacks , they're getting way more people this time we had to park on the whole other side of the block but still they are a true blessing :)
