I sought EMDR therapy from this business upon being stalked while working at a behavioral health hospital. I was open about my background during intake. Instead of providing me trauma therapy, the counselor decided to challenge a lesser-important issue, insist I need medication to seek treatment for it, and suggest a misdiagnosis. I’m pretty sure he was receiving supervision at the time, so I think it’s on the business. Turns out, I didn’t need medication to clear up the lesser-important issue, it worked out naturally because I had already worked on it as much as I could. Since seeking out and being denied trauma-intensive therapy from Thrive, my health declined and I faced scrutiny from law enforcement rather than any support. I’m not saying I needed trauma therapy to be able to respond to this crisis, but I am saying the lack at the time weakened the belief that I was being truthful about how serious the issue was, and implied I was trying to make it look worse than it was for selfish reasons. A lot has happened since then, because I refused to give up on myself. It was nothing from this business that has provided to my resourcefulness or well-being. It was traumatic to me.
