Dr. Sylvia is AMAZING. I can't even give enough recommendation for her office and services. I have had a bad back since the age of 21, throw it out every year 2 to 3xs a year, to the point I cannot walk. I've been seeing Dr. Sylvia for 2yrs now, every 3 to 5 months and I cannot express the feeling of relief and joy that she has given my life back. She is a master of her art, she is funny and lively and an amazing human with an extraordinary gift to heal you. GO SEE HER.

I'm a 43-year-old combat veteran (82nd Airborne, 15-month Afghanistan tour) referred to Dr. Sylvia He through VA community care for chronic low back pain. I'm six sessions into a 12-session course and wanted to write this while it's fresh.
What sets Dr. He apart is that she practices classical Traditional Chinese Medicine, not the watered-down American version. On my first visit she did a proper TCM intake with tongue diagnosis, pulse reading on both wrists, and a full symptom history that went well beyond the referral condition. By the end of session one she had a working pattern diagnosis and a treatment plan.
What she uses in her sessions goes far beyond just needles. In my course so far she's used:
- Filiform needling with actual manipulation to elicit de qi (the therapeutic sensation)
- Electrical stimulation on back and neck points
- Cupping on shoulders, obliques, groin, and calves
- Moxibustion (mugwort heat therapy) on my foot for a chronic fungal issue
- Meridian tapping tools on legs and arms
- Jing-Well point needling on the toes
- Digit mobilization to seal the session
This is the full classical toolkit. Most acupuncturists I've been to over the years used maybe two of these techniques. She uses all of them, and she uses them at the right times for the right reasons.
She also treats the whole person, not just the referral condition. My VA referral was for low back pain, but she quickly identified an underlying constitutional pattern (Spleen Qi Deficiency with Dampness in TCM terms) that also explained my fatigue, bloating, IBS, and even chronic foot eczema and toenail fungus. She's been treating all of it simultaneously through one integrated protocol.
For other veterans considering community care acupuncture in the Houston area: Dr. He takes the VA process seriously. Her front desk handles the paperwork professionally, and she tracks progress against the referral condition so reauthorization is straightforward. She's welcoming to veterans and doesn't rush the intake.
A few honest notes for anyone considering her:
- Her needling is stronger than what most Americans are used to. She actively manipulates the needle to find the point, and it can produce a strong grabbing sensation (this is called de qi and is the goal in classical practice). If you want gentle needling, tell her and she'll adjust. If you want real medicine, you'll get it.
- Expect soreness for 24 to 48 hours after deeper sessions, similar to after a hard workout. This is normal and means the work landed.
- Come prepared to actually engage with the treatment: track your symptoms, report changes honestly, and follow her aftercare guidance.
Six sessions in, I'm sleeping better, my bloating has dropped noticeably, my energy is coming back, and my low back pain is measurably improved. My skin conditions are starting to shift too, which no Western dermatologist ever addressed at the root.
Dr. He is a serious practitioner running real medicine. If you're in Houston, if you're a veteran with community care, or if you've tried surface-level acupuncture elsewhere and felt like it wasn't enough, she's worth the appointment.

So to follow up on my first review, I left coming to top Acupuncture end of June/August of this year after having a life-threatening car accident Dr. Sylvia Qiaosha He has been an absolute blessing to say the least. I’m not sure who had a bad day with some of these questionable reviews, but I had a traumatic brain injury, a skull fracture and a respiratory infection due to a bad climate that I’ve been living in This Dr. Sylvia pinpointed almost immediately when she saw my back, but it was crooked and she knew exactly what to do. She goes out of her way to heal me and make sure that I’m not in pain. I absolutely can feel a difference in the pain from being a one to 10 which was on a 10 before meeting this doctor. It’s subsided immensely I would say I’m at four and this is just in less than two months. She’s been outstanding and I would recommend her to anyone in pain anyone with anxiety or depression. What’s I liked the most as she has a holistic approach with Healing anything wrong with you and your body physically let her know and I guarantee you she will heal it. I’m convinced. I’m beyond surprised after eight months of pain, I finally found her. I cannot believe how quickly she’s helped heal my body thank you. You’re an absolute blessing to me.

Absolutely Incredible Healing Experience – Highly Recommend Sylvia!
I injured my knee over the July 4th weekend and was in excruciating pain. My left knee was extremely swollen, couldn’t extend on its own, and couldn’t bear any weight. I desperately searched for help, but no orthopedic clinics were open on the weekend. Thankfully, I found this amazing acupuncture clinic in Houston—open on Saturdays—and that’s when I met Sylvia.
Sylvia is truly exceptional. From the moment I stepped into her clean, spacious, and well-equipped office, I felt like I was in good hands. She took the time to thoroughly examine me. She treated me with great care, placing acupuncture needles on various key points, and spent two full hours working to reduce the inflammation and pain. By the time I left, the swelling had gone down quite a bit and the pain reduced.
Sylvia is not only deeply knowledgeable—holding a doctorate in Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture—but also incredibly compassionate. You can genuinely feel her joy in healing people. Her dedication and expertise go above and beyond.
If you’re in pain and need real relief, I highly recommend Sylvia and her clinic. She’s a rare find in Houston, and I’m so grateful for the care I received.
