Reviewers frequently praise the office for thorough examinations, clear communication of treatment plans, and accommodating emergency visits. Patients describe the staff as friendly and the environment as welcoming, often noting that providers take time to explain procedures and address concerns. However, several low-star reviews criticize the front office for scheduling difficulties and billing inaccuracies, with some alleging that initial cost estimates were later increased or that previous payments were double-charged.

Wonderful experience for myself and daughter. Dr Shon took time to explain and answer questions. Front office staff were friendly and personable. Found our new dentist here, for sure.

After reading Dr. Shon's response to my review, I feel compelled to clarify what actually happened because his response completely reframes my experience as an issue of "clinical judgment" and "patient safety." That is not what I complained about. This was one of the worst healthcare experiences have ever had. The dentist repeatedly talks about "patient safety," but patient safety is not simply taking your gloves off and telling a patient you are done the moment they have difficulty tolerating a procedure. It also means recognizing what is causing the distress, communicating with the patient, adjusting your technique, and making a reasonable effort to make the procedure tolerable. During my cavity procedure, I started gagging repeatedly. A major part of the problem was that I was being flooded with water and, in my experience, the suction was not being used effectively enough. I was extremely uncomfortable and struggling to tolerate what was happening. Instead of addressing the suction, asking what was wrong, or trying another approach, he took his gloves off and said he would refer me to someone who could perform the procedure under anesthesia. I literally had to beg him to continue. About 20 minutes later, he shoved a large mouthpiece to the edge of my mouth. I gagged again and explained that I physically could not open my jaw that wide. I suggested using a smaller mouthpiece. Once again, he appeared ready to stop instead of working through the problem with me. Again, I had to plead with him to continue. So when I read his statement that he "will never place completing a procedure ahead of a patient's safety," | have to ask: what exactly does he think my complaint was? I was not asking him to do something unsafe. I was telling him I was physically struggling and asking him to work with me. There is a major difference between stopping a procedure because it genuinely cannot be performed safely and giving up because a patient is having difficulty. If the larger mouthpiece causes gagging, use a smaller one. We literally completed the procedure with the smaller mouthpiece just fine. That's what I mean by working with the patient. Instead, I felt like every obstacle was an excuse to stop. The water boarding issue, I was literally being suffocated. Yet his lengthy response about "safety" never addresses it. The wisdom tooth situation was another waste of my time. Before scheduling, I specifically called and asked whether they performed extractions for impacted wisdom teeth still under the gum. I was told to come in. I took time off work, showed up, and was then told they could not do it and would refer me elsewhere. If an examination and imaging were required first, that could have been explained over the phone instead of wasting my time. Then the cleaning was rushed through in what felt like about five minutes, His statement that my "perception of elapsed time" may have been different because I was stressed was extremely dismissive. I was the patient sitting in that chair. I was literally looking at the clock. I left wondering WHY I was treated this way, I cannot say it was racism because I do not know his intentions, but I would be lying if I didn't question whether | was treated differently. When you are uncomfortable, ignored, handled roughly, and have to beg your provider to work with you, you leave wondering what you did to deserve that treatment. What bothers me most is that instead of acknowledging the actual concerns 1 raised, his response was essentially a lecture about why his decisions were justified. I never expected him to compromise my safety. I expected him to be smart enough to understand that patient safety and patient comfort are not mutually exclusive. I came in expecting professional care. I left uncomfortable, rushed, dismissed, and feeling like I had to convince my dentist to do their job. As for "not being the right fit," I couldn't agree more. Calling "best of luck" an appropriate response to a patient raising legitimate concerns says enough. "Best of luck" to whoever is next under your "care.”

Poor front office , the doctors are good but just to schedule an appointment you will need to go there by yourself, I’m a patient with them for more than 2 years , recently I called for cleaning , a girl answered the phone and she claimed that the system is down and she can’t take my appointment, I totally understand and it happens , she suggested to call later on or the day later I said anytime you feel comfortable contact me , no pressure , now almost 2 weeks never received a call back , the worst is that I call and no one is answering

The Assistants and the dentist were amazing and helpful. Very gentle and thorough with the procedures, explanation of the treatments I needed for my teeth. Walked me through so much that I did not know. I definitely gives them a 5 star for how great of an experience I had after many previous horrors.

Response from the owner · 2 months ago

Thank you so much, Kyra, for sharing such a kind review. It was an absolute pleasure welcoming you to our office, and we’re so grateful you chose us. We look forward to taking great care of you for many years to come!

I recently visited Dr. Shon as a new patient for a cleaning. Having dealt with dental issues for years, I've seen many dentists, but he conducted the most thorough examination and detailed review of any I've experienced. I now have a clear plan to improve my dental health and feel very confident in his knowledge and approach. Unlike other offices where I've felt rushed, the hygienist here took her time and did an exceptional job during my cleaning. Most importantly, Dr. Shon has created a warm, welcoming environment where patients genuinely feel cared for and not just like another number.

Our goal is always to help patients fully understand their oral health and feel confident about a clear path forward, so we’re very glad you felt heard and cared for during your visit. We’ll be sure to share your kind words with our hygienist, Chris, as well — she’ll truly appreciate them. Thank you again for trusting us with your care. We look forward to being part of your dental health journey for years to come!
