I think the pictures speak for themselves but here is my review. We hired TruX Landscaping for a significant landscaping/hardscape project that was “completed” in May. At first things seemed good. But as the flowers bloomed and I realized the plants weren't what they were supposed to be, rocks settled, grass didn't grow as it was supposed to, grass and weeds grew in places they shouldn't, poly sand settled and cracked. Unfortunately, three months later, we are still trying to get multiple issues with the work corrected, and communication has become extremely frustrating. Some of the unresolved issues include: -Extensive weeds already growing through the rock beds, due to dirt mixed into the rock and/or an inadequate weed barrier. -Rock that needs to be pulled back and washed out, something Tyler previously acknowledged and committed to correcting. -Several areas that need additional rock. -Black landscape edging that was improperly installed and now needs to be repaired/replaced. -Plants specified in our contract were substituted without any communication or approval. Our contract specifically called for daisies and lavender, but salvia and what appears to be coreopsis were planted instead. Lavender was intentionally selected for its fragrance, so this was not an insignificant substitution. -Flagstone that was not properly leveled during installation. This is not about the natural variation in the stone—it is the actual placement and installation. -Polymeric sand that is already soft and cracking, with weeds growing through it. This is especially concerning considering it has not even been through its first Michigan winter. -Grass that now requires additional work to correct despite Tyler stating our yard would be returned to original condition after completion of the work and after equipment was run through the yard. Per Tyler's request, we obtained quotes from other companies to repair the grass and edging and sent those to Tyler, along with a detailed list of the remaining issues and a request to discuss how he would like to resolve them. That message has gone unanswered, following several other attempts to get these issues addressed. What is especially disappointing is that Tyler stated in writing that TruX offers a 7-year warranty on hardscapes, yet we have been unable to get problems addressed just three months after completion. We understand that issues can arise on any project. Our frustration is not simply that there are problems, it is that we reported these issues right away and months have passed without them being properly resolved and our recent attempts at communication have gone unanswered. For the amount of money invested in this project, we expected the finished work, follow-through, and warranty service to reflect a much higher level of quality and professionalism. I never make a review immediately because things aren't always what they great appear. Unfortunately, based on our experience to date, we would not recommend TruX Landscaping.

We take pride in our work and warranty commitments, but we need to clarify the facts regarding site conditions, communication, and project scope for anyone reviewing this. Completion & Client Acceptance: Upon project completion and final payment on May 12th, you explicitly texted us: "Hey Tyler - I really do love the work you did! Don't want you to think I don't at all." The hardscape was built strictly to contract and accepted as complete. Clarification of Recent Issues: Lawn Seeding: As outlined in our agreement, grass seed was applied to disturbed areas upon completion. Seed requires consistent daily watering by the homeowner to germinate and establish. Dirt & Weeds in Rock Beds: Clean, commercial-grade river rock was installed directly over professional geo-textile weed fabric. Soil introduced into the stone beds occurred post-installation from surrounding site activity, which we offered to wash out as a courtesy. Landscape Edging & Buried Utilities: The internet cable was buried in that exact area with no precise location markings available. To avoid severing your home's internet connection with deep trenching, the edging was installed at ground level and finished by backfilling topsoil along the outer perimeter. Flagstone & Poly Sand: Natural flagstone features natural clefting and surface variation; it cannot be flat like manufactured concrete pavers. Polymeric sand is designed to stay micro-flexible under moisture to handle Michigan’s freeze/thaw cycles without shattering, which is why it cures firm when dry. Communication & Service Visits: We offered to handle minor touch-ups (bed washing and plant reimbursement) and requested the third-party quote you mentioned so we could review it prior to our follow-up visit. We did not receive that quote until weeks after the agreed date, nor were we informed that replacement plants had been acquired. We cannot perform site visits without the necessary information to review beforehand. We stand behind our 7-year structural hardscape warranty and the quality of our craftsmanship.
