Google reviewers rate Veterinary Neurology Center 4.9/5, frequently praising prompt appointments, same-day MRI access, and detailed communication regarding complex neurological conditions like IVDD. Patients often highlight the staff's compassion and the facility's reasonable pricing compared to large corporate chains. I want to start by saying thank you CORI,!!!! For making it possible, for my dog susie to be seen the same day I called to make an appointment, without your attention it wouldn't have been possible, susie got her MRI same day. Susie was not doing well I knew it wasn't good. When I arrived with susie DR.PHILIP SCHISSLER greeted us very kindly and attentively to everything I was explaining about Susie's problem, he answered all my questions and concerns in a very kind way, he is a very experienced doctor, they were prepare to treat susie in a very loving and warm manner. I got Susie's diagnosis and we started her treatment to give her the quality months that God allows me to have with her. Thank you for treating my beloved susie with such care. Thank you Cori. Thank you DR. SCHISSLER. THANK YOU EVERYONE AT VNC.

PET OWNERS BEWARE. My experience with Dr. Hanson was extremely disappointing and frustrating. I brought my dog, Cobra, to him seeking answers for a neurological condition that limits his physical abilities. I trusted that taking him to a neurological specialist would finally give me some answers and, hopefully, a way to improve his quality of life. We went through physical evaluations, X-rays, an MRI, additional diagnostic testing, and multiple medications. After spending approximately $5,000, I was ultimately left with essentially the same unanswered question I had when I walked through the door: What is actually wrong with my dog, and is there anything we can do to help him? Unfortunately, none of the treatment improved Cobra’s condition. In fact, some of the medications appeared to make him worse. After everything we had already done, I was later presented with the possibility of performing still more testing for other potential conditions. At that point, I couldn’t justify continuing to put my dog through additional testing and spending even more money when I still had no clear path toward actually improving his quality of life. Given the amount of money I had spent without receiving a definitive diagnosis or seeing any improvement, I contacted Dr. Hanson and requested a good-faith refund, or at minimum a substantial partial refund. I explained my concerns and why I didn’t believe continuing down the road of additional testing made sense for Cobra. Dr. Hanson never responded to my last email. I understand that veterinary medicine is not an exact science and that no doctor can guarantee a diagnosis or successful treatment. I never expected a guarantee. But after approximately $5,000 in specialist care, X-rays, an MRI, diagnostic testing, and medications, I certainly expected to come away with more answers—or at least some meaningful improvement in my dog’s condition. Instead, I’m approximately $5,000 poorer, Cobra’s condition has not improved, and I still don’t have an answer as to what is actually causing his neurological problems. I sought out a neurological specialist because I believed that was my best chance of helping my dog. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Dr. Hanson. Before committing to thousands of dollars in diagnostic testing and treatment, I strongly encourage other pet owners to ask very specific questions about what each test is expected to accomplish, whether the result will actually change the treatment plan, and what realistic benefit it may provide your pet. Approximately $5,000 later, I still have the same dog with the same neurological problems and no definitive answers.

Highly recommend!!! My dog Ruby is 6.5 year old beagle and she became unable to use her hind legs suddenly. I went to the local veterinary ER in San Diego and was told I had two options - emergency surgery or to euthanize. We could not afford at the time and we were not ready to let her go. We tried medical management and had no change. I found Veterinary Neurology Center on a google search and I am so glad I called. The entire experience has been profoundly amazing. I felt like they were compassionate about the care of my animal and me. Ruby received an MRI and went to surgery for a hemilaminectomy at L1-L2. I truly appreciate the care from all of the receptionists, the assistants, the technicians, the doctors, and all their staff. Dr. Yenli Furman was our board certified neurologist and surgeon and she was incredible. Their standard of care is immaculate, they have impressive protocols in place to give their patients the best possible care and great pain management protocols. My husband Chris and I are so incredibly grateful for VNC. We are so thankful that because of them we get to spend at least 6 more years with our girl. Thank you so much ❤️ With all our gratitude, Ruby, Chris, and Katie

From initial phone call to visit and follow up, staff and Dr. Schissler were exceptional. After a referral by my primary vet, my dog was thoroughly examined and prescribed a medication that addressed her condition. Highly recommend VNC!

We brought our kitten, Wilma, to the Veterinary Neurology Center after previously seeing a vet who made unrealistic promises about curing her paraplegia. After months of uncertainty, meeting with Dr. Emily Sun was a breath of fresh air. Wilma came to us as a rescue kitten with severe lower-body paralysis from being thrown out of a moving car onto the 110 Fwy in Wilmington. Dr. Sun performed a thorough neurological examination and reviewed her spinal radiographs, confirming that Wilma is deep pain sensation negative due to severe spinal cord trauma. Rather than selling us false hope or chasing unviable treatments, Dr. Sun was completely honest with us. She clearly explained Wilma's condition, demonstrated passive range of motion exercises to keep her joints flexible, and reassured us that paralyzed cats can live incredibly happy, active, and comfortable lives. Dr. Sun gave us the definitive answer and closure we really needed for our sweet girl. Because of her expertise and compassionate guidance, we stopped chasing a false cure and can now focus entirely on giving Wilma the best quality of life. We are so grateful to Dr. Sun and the entire team at the Veterinary Neurology Center for treating Wilma with such incredible kindness and care.

PD had been struggling with IVDD and neck pain for almost two months before a friend recommended this hospital to us. Dr. Phillip Schissler quickly identified the problem and gave us two treatment options. After a week of medication with little improvement, we went back for a recheck and decided to proceed with surgery. Dr. Schissler is very experienced, caring, and professional, and the entire front desk team was incredibly kind and helpful. You can truly tell that everyone here cares about the dogs. It’s been two weeks since PD’s surgery, and he was already pain-free on the day of surgery. His recovery has been going really well so far. We’re so grateful we found this place! If your dog has IVDD, I highly recommend coming here.
