Rachel did both our birth photos and our newborn photos. There are so many reasons why I would recommend booking birth photos with Rachel, from the beginning of the process, she was communicative and I felt like really understood my vision. Every time I’ve looked at the photo since, which is often, I unlock another memory of my birth. She perfectly captured what I was feeling as well as everyone and how they supported me. I was nervous to book newborn photos because I did not want them to feel staged, but again, she made the process natural and comfortable. This is the greatest gift I could’ve given myself to celebrate my labor and I am so grateful for what she captured.

For years I watched my clients post pictures taken by Rachel and was always enamored by her ability to not just capture an image, but to tell an entire story through it. Her photos feel alive — you can feel the emotion, connection, tenderness, and fleeting moments just by looking at them. I was thrilled to finally have her photograph our own newborn season, and the photos did NOT disappoint. She encouraged us to simply settle into our natural environment and gently guided us in ways that felt authentic and effortless rather than posed or forced. Somehow she captured not only what this season looks like, but exactly what it feels like — the softness, the chaos, the love, the exhaustion, the connection. These are the kinds of photos that instantly become priceless family keepsakes. Every image feels deeply personal and emotional, and I know we’ll treasure them forever. Rachel has such a gift for making people feel comfortable, seen, and beautiful in the middle of real life, and it shines through in every single photo.
We had an absolutely wonderful time taking our maternity photos with Rachel. I had been scrolling instagram and found one of her past shoots and absolutely fell in love with it and reached out immediately. She was able to create the perfect session for us and I will love our photos forever.
Reaching out to Rachel for an intimate motherhood photo session was the easiest decision I’ve made since becoming a parent. Breastfeeding was a wonderful experience for me and I wanted to capture these important moments; we all know how quickly they pass. Rachel was easy to chat with and scheduled within my time frame. She came prepared to the session and was down for anything I wanted to document. She was respectful in my home and sweet to my pets. Our photos arrived quickly and were very easy to access. My only regret is not booking birth photos as well! My recommendation is to capture all the moments you can of pregnancy and beyond with Rachel as your photographer.
Where to even begin with explaining why Rachel is such a wonderful birth photographer, and all around incredible human. Instantly upon meeting Rachel I felt so comfortable, I hear this often about her from others in the community. She has a sense of warmth, and realness that instantly relaxed me in front of the camera when I was getting maternity photographs taken. She was able to work around and make miracles out of anything I gave her. I knew after that session I was absolutely comfortable and wanting her to be present and working her magic when I was to give birth. She made it there in the nick of time with extremely short notice, a hilarious and wonderful story of its own. The photos she took that day are sacred to me and I will treasure them forever. To have the best day of my life documented so beautifully, raw, and true brings me to tears. I will cherish them forever. I was amazed looking at the photos because she caught every moment and I didn’t even notice her presence. Rachel is so respectful, can read the room and make herself so small in order to allow these intimate moments be about the family. Thank you Rachel!!! You are the BEST!!!!!
It is the easiest thing for me to give a 5-star review and recommend Rachel as a photographer and all around amazing human being. Rachel is the photographer I want at all my Life events and milestones, and the only thing preventing me is that I don't live in the Eugene, OR, area, but I absolutely plan to fly Rachel out for some events in the future if she's available! Let me explain: After a grueling 7+ year infertility and recurrent pregnancy loss struggle, we partnered with a wonderful gestational carrier to grow our family, and our gestational carrier happens to live in the Eugene, OR, area. When I finally was able to embrace the pregnancy and imminent arrival of our daughter, I googled birth photographers in Eugene and Rachel's site came up. I browsed her galleries and was deeply moved by the moments she captured and the documentary she told through imagery of each of the births highlighted. I knew I needed to work with her because she would do our unconventional family building story justice. So I emailed her and we had a chat, and while she had not photographed many gestational carrier births, I was highly encouraged by her descriptions of how she approaches the birth space and our discussions of how she would approach our birth to capture and honor the miraculous arrival of our baby girl while also respecting the needs of our gestational carrier. Over the course of a few conversations, I felt that I had made a new, dear friend who really "got" me even through her experiences with motherhood have been so different from mine. On the day of the birth, Rachel was a real trooper. Due to staffing at the hospital and some other issues, we had a very long day. Rachel never wavered and, despite having met in person for the first time that day, her presence helped me stay grounded. Her presence was deeply soothing to me and her gentleness added calm to the room. She was unobtrusive and respectful of all our needs while remaining communicative about what she needed to fulfill her job assignment. But let me be clear - this job is her passion realized and is her calling. I'll say this - Rachel texted me a "sneak peek" of about a dozen images a few days after the birth and those images alone were worth the investment in the photography package (although of course I'm glad we received the full gallery ;) ). Rachel's artistic eye and incredible storytelling through this media gave me the most real, most raw first moments with the daughter I've waited several lifetimes to meet Earthside. It may seem like exaggeration, but when you've fought for years, and lost many babies, and sacrificed tremendous pieces of yourself to ultimately culminate in the acceptance of not carrying your baby because you know the safest and only way they'll make it to your arms will be with the help of another, well, I will never be able to thank Rachel enough for this gift. Anyone can take a photograph, but true artists like Rachel can capture a whole Universe in one. These photographs from my daughter's birth, as well as our "Fresh 48," are now among my most prized possessions and are absolutely priceless to me. If you're on the fence about birth photography, you absolutely cannot go wrong working with Rachel, who will provide you the experience of a lifetime and the memories forever.
Rachel was such a blessing during my pregnancy and birth. From day one, I absolutely loved her and I especially appreciated that our views aligned when it came to childbirth and everything surrounding it. She was so supportive, easy to talk to, and full of helpful info and amazing recommendations (including my doula, who I’m forever thankful for!). On the day of birth, she was like a fly on the wall. I barely noticed the camera, yet she captured the most beautiful and emotional moments. These photos mean the world to me. My only regret is that she didn’t photograph all my births! If you’re looking for an incredible birth photographer, you’ve found her. 🩷
I have had the pleasure of attending births (as a midwife) that Rachel was photographing, and just like all of these reviews say, she is not only an incredible photographer with an artist's eye and an uncanny ability to capture fleeting moments of connection or emotion, she is also *so good* at being in a birth space. She deeply understands the needs of a laboring person and is able to match the energy in the room - she can be light and funny, she can be encouraging, and she can also be quiet and invisible when needed. I recently had the incredible joy of having Rachel take some pictures of me at work as a baby bodyworker, and I got to experience being the subject. Some of the shots she got y'all... I'm like, where even were you to get that? Were you laying on the floor? How did I not see you there? Such stealth. So much beauty captured. Like many people, I feel a bit awkward in front of a camera, but I didn't even really get the opportunity to feel any kind of way because she just floated around with a sweet smile on her face while I did my thing. Then I saw the pictures and was so moved by what she captured. So much joy, so much laughter, so many sweet baby interactions, and I felt so beautiful because she captured my beautiful moments. Sometimes you meet someone who is *so good* at their work AND they love it, and you know you want to be around that person because they just feel good. Rachel feels good to be around, and the amazing pictures are icing on the cake. Thank you, Rachel, for doing what you do and being who you are.
This woman is the best birth photographer you’ll ever find. I don’t know where to start. Rachael is beyond amazing. She’s so much more than a photographer. She’s the earth momma we all want to be. She is a midwife matchmaker. She really cared about my birthing experience and wanted me to have the support I needed. she recognized my distress over the inefficient midwife that I had selected, and then recommended that I interview others. She even gave me a list of midwives that she’s seen in action. I’m so glad she offered this because I ended up with the most perfect midwife Lydia Martinez (Selah midwifery). She is an incredibly talented photographer, as you can see on her instagram. She is ninja stealthy at getting these shots. You don’t even know she’s there. My mother didn’t even see her. My mother told me that my photographer missed capturing the actual birth. That couldn’t be farther from the truth. Rachel was just so inconspicuous that no one noticed her getting the money shots. When I shared my gallery, my birth team was like, where was she? How did she even get this shot?! Minds were blown. She’s such an amazing person too, like you want to be her friend. she checked in on me so many times before and after the birth. She genuinely cares. You will not regret your choice. I upgraded to the video and photo package and it was money well didn’t. I’m not wealthy, but I have zero regrets over paying for the upgrade. She’s worth so much more. I cannot recommend her more.
Just FANTASTIC. If you need a birth / couples / baby photographer - look no further - Rachel is IT! She is amazing! Her style is beautiful and gorgeous and we feel like she listened to EVERYTHING. We had a baby birth video and photoshoot and a post birth photoshoot with baby a few weeks later. The pictures and videos are stunning and captured the moment perfectly! So emotional!!!! We are so happy we booked and would highly recommend to everyone!
