Sam helped redesign my front yard and address existing irrigation issues. I appreciated his knowledge, thoughtful ideas, and ability to find solutions while keeping the overall vision in mind. He really knows his craft, and the quality of work reflects the care and attention to detail they bring to their projects. My front yard was a great place to start, and my backyard is next! I’m looking forward to working with Sam again to address some issues back there and create a space that’s just as beautiful and functional. I highly recommend Artz Landscape!

This experience has been very frustrating. We committed to his project in Sept 2025 under the understanding that the pool would be ready for the kids to swim in April 2026. Sam Artz told us that the pool would be done by April 2026, then it was pushed to Memorial Day 2026, then it was pushed to soon after July 4th weekend, then it was pushed to end of July 2026, then to Labor Day, and still as of October were are looking at a concrete hole in our yard. All these deadline were missed. There would be long periods of time (several weeks) where nothing was being done. I asked Sam why we could not work on other parts of the project such as repairing the fence and repainting it while we were waiting for the plumbers to advance with the pool project, and I was told that it was better to wait. I pointed out flaws with the work, and he told us he would save it til the end of the project. He asked for payments ahead of the agreed timelines on the contract, telling me that giving him the money in advance would make it easier to secure the commitments of the subcontractors and to speed up the project, and yet the progress was painfully slow. We even started having some of the subcontractors call us to inform us that subcontractors were not getting paid. Sam eventually told us on 10/10/26 that he would not be able to complete our project after he had collected the second to last installment of payments. I had paid him more than $237,000 but he had only completed about $147,000 of work. Furthermore, his contractors had created significant structural damage to our driveway that he promised he would have them replace free of charge (about 10-15k of damage)- this will probably never happen now. He had scheduled all the payments around the construction of the pool but he never touched many of the other projects that had been included in our project such as the side and backyard landscaping, brick archways, outdoor kitchen, and completion of the pool (which still needed tile to be completed, purchase and installation of pool equipment, lighting, and plaster). Needless to say, he collected far more money than the actual amount of work that had been completed. He was really pressuring us to get the money for the completion of the decking and told me that the pool would be done soon after the payment. After collecting the last installment, his guys did one more day of work, and then he disappeared. He has not answered my emails or phone calls. I feel very deceived by Sam Artz. I had asked him on many occasions why he was not doing any of the other projects in the contract. He assured me that everything had to be done in its appropriate order. However, now I believed he was just doing the bare minimum to collect as much of the contract as possible and then he would abandon us after the collection of the money for the decking because it was not worth the final $42,000 payment to finish the remaining $147,000 of work. When I confronted him about this, he ghosted me. This has been a nightmare of an experience. Having to to now find another contractor to finish the project, my recommendation for anyone looking to do a big pool, kitchen, 360-landscaping project is to find a company that has all in-house staff and has been in business for a good number of years. It was concerning when people from the team started disappearing. Also, check if they are established in the BBB (Better Business Bureau)

We hired Sam Artz to do a full overhaul of our home back in August of 2025. It is now over a year later with half our landscaping project complete and a partially completed pool. We were really hoping that we would be given small business care and attention to detail with excellent customer service, but we are now left scrambling trying to find a different company to come and complete the project.

Do NOT hire this company. We signed a contract for a project that was supposed to be 6-8 weeks. It's been 9 months and it's still not done. Total lack of accountability and lots of excuses, delays, unresponsiveness and inability to get subs to come do the work. Clearly prioritized other projects over ours. If we asked about progress - we'd either get excuses - or complete fabrication of a timeline and deliverables. 1-2 workers might show up for a few days, and then weeks would go by with no progress. Our front and backyard were completely torn up and have remained that way for months. Garbage and debris left everywhere. Damage to our fence, sod, etc. Dishonestly on project timelines and overall lack of professionalism. We are having to hire others to finish the project - but still don't have some permits finalized/approved. Lawyers are next. I've had to continually apologize to my neighbors for how horrible our yard has looked for months. Lastly, I now question the fact that 8 of the positive reviews on this site all happened within the same month.

We had contacted Artz Landscape Designs to improve our backyard. Initially, we were quite impressed with the design Sam showed us and were sold. However, it was the process that really became infuriating. We were told that it should take 4-8 weeks to complete the job. For a variety of reasons to be explained, we quickly became disillusioned and very frustrated. One of the main ones was it took five months and is still not completed. Sam did not respond to our requests on project completion dates. His crew (below average subcontractors) performed medicare work, especially considering the total cost of the project. Artz did not give us a head’s up that we could rely on. Sometimes when they were just an hour away, they would call and say they were coming. Many times we were waiting and no one showed up. We eventually realized that Sam was juggling lots of jobs which led us to think we were at the back of the line. We felt very unimportant and not valued. There were many examples of poor workmanship. We had to have our pavers re-done twice. The first time the drains were inside the concrete and the second time the workman over-troweled the concrete, leaving it looking rough and uneven on the surface.. We were told we could get it re-done ourselves by someone else. The next problem was the fountain. They had no experience with this brand. First, when it was painted, there were lots of insects that were stuck to the surface. This had to be re-painted.. Then a leak appeared at the top and inside the columns. That required fixing too. The fountain was not attached to the main water line so it did not operate properly. By the end when we were ready to finish, several items needed to be completed. Even though Sam pushed back, he promised he would get them taken care of. It never happened. Sam told us to get the pavers fixed ourselves and deduct it from the total owed. The other item was getting the fountain connected to the main water line. He also promised to rectify this mistake. Once again, no further communication from him. It will be costly to get this work done. So at this point we are not using the fountain. This should have been done by Artz, since that's exactly why we hired them to do the job. They left us high and dry with an unfinished job. We can’t even count on a warranty. We were promised that we would have final approval before we made the last payment. We have not heard from Sam since. Therefore, I would strongly advise not working with them. !!Addendum. Just to clarify, my user name is Jack Brown because of spam.
