I am currently 35 weeks pregnant and have been coming to AYL since my second trimester. In that time I've taken prenatal, sculpt, and strength classes, and attended several workshops (both on my own and with my partner) to prepare for labor and new motherhood. Every class has left me feeling stronger and more connected to my body, and there is something really special about being in a room full of other moms-to-be all showing up for themselves.
The workshops are led by true professionals. From experienced doulas, lactation experts, and more... I find myself consistently walking away feeling more informed and confident about my own birth. AYL does a great job of finding the right people and creating space for real learning.
Most recently I had the privilege of being part of their brand new program called The Village. It is the first of its kind and walks moms through every phase, from prenatal, to labor, and postpartum while also building in ongoing support we move through those stages. I attended weekly classes alongside seven other moms with similar due dates, and what started as a class quickly became so much more than that. We just wrapped up in May, and two of the moms have already delivered — both with really positive experiences. I genuinely believe the knowledge, confidence, and support The Village provided us made (and will make for me) a real difference.
I am looking forward to my own birth here in July and honestly, I am just as excited to reunite with these seven women on the other side. That continued connection is built right into The Village's design... because it really does take a village.
I am proud to be part of AYL's first one. <3
