I made an appointment online with a detailed description of the problem. I then received a text asking for a 50% deposit and asking me what the problem was. I asked them to call as I very clearly laid out the problem in the notes section when I booked my appointment. They did call back quickly and I described the issue again and also requested an AC recharge to which they responded that they had a promotion going on for an AC diagnostic and recharge for the cost of a recharge so I said I wanted that as well.
A little while later I get a message that I should bring my car to the shop. This is after I told them that the only reason I called in the first place was because I couldn’t take it to a shop.
So, not only did I have to repeat myself about the issue and why I needed a mobile mechanic, they wouldn’t even come to do the diagnostic or AC.
Why bother having a mobile mechanic if you’re going to tell potential customers to bring it to a shop??
Very very disappointing.

We’re sorry to hear that Rebecca was disappointed with her experience, and we appreciate the opportunity to clarify what occurred.
At Cara Mobile, we take customer concerns seriously and make every effort to communicate clearly before accepting payment or sending a technician. In this case, no payment was taken from the customer, and after speaking with her and obtaining additional information about the vehicle and the problem she was experiencing, it became clear that the service required was outside the scope of what our mobile technicians are equipped to perform.
Specifically, the issue required electrical/advanced diagnostic work that we do not currently offer as part of our mobile services. Rather than accepting a deposit for a service we could not properly complete, we advised the customer that the vehicle would need to be taken to a properly equipped repair facility.
Being a mobile automotive company does not mean that every type of automotive repair can safely or appropriately be performed at a customer’s location. There are certain electrical, mechanical, and specialized repairs that require shop-level equipment and facilities. We believe it is more responsible to be transparent about those limitations than to take a customer’s money and attempt a repair outside our capabilities.
We also want to clarify that the customer was contacted promptly after requesting a call, and our team did make an effort to understand the concern before determining the appropriate next step.
We understand that being referred to a shop can be frustrating, particularly when a customer specifically seeks a mobile service. However, our responsibility is to be honest about what we can and cannot safely provide.
We welcome constructive feedback and continuously use customer experiences to improve our communication and booking process. At the same time, we believe it is important that the circumstances are represented fairly: no payment was taken, no service was refused after payment, and the customer was referred to a shop because the requested work fell outside the services and capabilities we currently provide.
