First time at this salon, and I couldn’t be happier! I got highlights and a trim from the lovely Ariana. She was not only super nice but also so professional, taking the time to explain each step of the process. The results were amazing, and I absolutely love my new look! I’ll definitely be coming back. But you get good reviews so an occasional bad one you can dismiss, as you've done.
Oh how my daughter and I love Cultivate! All of the stylists work looks beautiful every time we are in (but an extra special shout out to Leah and Shandrica)! My daughter and I have been clients for a while now and we’ve always left feeling pampered and fabulous with all the amazing products Shandrica utilizes! She uses the best lines and has the best team. We love the environment. Everyone is warm and welcoming. It’s such a wonderful salon and we will continue being clients as long as they’ll have us! Thank you to the incredible staff at Cultivate. We appreciate all of you❤️

I had a very disappointing experience with this salon and would not recommend them for extensions. I’d give it zero stars if I could. After my appointment, I immediately noticed multiple issues with the installation that I have never experienced before, despite wearing extensions using this same method for years. The wefts were not reinstalled in their original placement or order, even though they had already been custom-cut for face framing. As a result, the overall shape was altered, including a full-length piece being placed where a shorter, pre-trimmed section should have been. Beyond the aesthetic issues, there were also structural problems. The right side did not lay flat, several beads were already compromised, and the back of the weft failed entirely, leaving a visible gap. On each side, several pieces were sticking out because they were simply not secured/sewed in, so they hang loose. In some areas the weft of sliding off the beads entirely. These are not minor concerns—they reflect issues with the installation itself which quickly ended up causing damage (zoom in on photos and see the hair that got pulled out). When I reached out to have this corrected, the only solution offered was to cut more of my hair to “balance” it. This did not make sense given that the issue was placement, not blending. Since the hair had already been custom-cut, trimming more would have permanently altered the intended look, reduced density, and still not addressed the root problem. After clearly explaining this, I stopped receiving responses from the stylist. Instead, the salon stepped in and misrepresented my position, stating that I declined to return for an adjustment—which is not accurate. I did not refuse service; I declined a solution that would not fix the issue and would have made the result worse. They also attempted to attribute the problem to the wefts themselves, which was inaccurate. The pieces are standard length (approximately 10–12 inches) and not “small pieces” as described. I have worn this same type of extensions for years without any of the issues I experienced here, this has been absolutely terrible. To resolve the situation, the salon offered a refund and recommended I go elsewhere, rather than properly correcting the installation. While I appreciate the refund, the overall experience—poor installation, lack of accountability, and misrepresentation of the situation as well as their skillset—was extremely frustrating. I would not trust this salon with extension services ans I do not believe they’re at all qualified to do sew in wefts. All photos uploaded were during the first few days of the install and under a week. ******REPLY*******Since the salon chose to publicly falsely accuse me of dishonesty, aggression, misleading behavior, and posting “tampered” photos instead of taking accountability for the condition of my hair after their service, I am responding with the actual documented facts, screenshots, and timeline. (Note the dates on the photos and they’re all Live Photos date and time stamped). As you read the salon’s response, keep in mind that this is a business publicly speaking about a paying client who remained calm and flexible, after a failed service that they reassured me of they’re qualified to do. The ongoing lack of accountability, intentional misrepresentation of facts, selective omission of context, and blatantly false statements made in their response are, in my opinion, strongly representative of how they operate as a business and how they treat customers once something goes wrong. Frankly, I am absolutely appalled by the salon’s response, especially that we live in a world of digital evidence. So I’m gonna go ahead and upload screenshots and evidence I have to prove their dishonesty. Due to space limit please see the rest of the reply via uploaded photos and supporting evidence. I have all the receipts and wont hesitate sharing everything if I have to but for now this is all this platform allowed bc it reached a posting limit.
We take all client feedback seriously, and while we understand not every service relationship is the right fit, it’s important to clarify several inaccuracies in this review. From the moment of consultation, our stylist communicated that she was working with a previous extension install that included multiple short, heavily cut pieces and uneven placement from another provider. Reinstalling those pieces required carefully working through what was already existing in the hair. During the appointment, our stylist also explained that our salon’s extension method and approach differs from the previous stylist’s technique, as we do not typically install heavily fragmented “mini” sections throughout the head. We strive for seamless, balanced installs using full, healthy wefts whenever possible. At the conclusion of the appointment, the client expressed satisfaction with the service. It was only afterward that concerns were brought up regarding the front framing area appearing shorter on one side. We immediately offered an adjustment appointment to address those concerns. That offer was declined, while communication toward our stylist became increasingly aggressive, including direct messages sent to her personal social media account. At that point, both our salon leadership and stylist no longer felt comfortable continuing the service relationship. In addition, multiple team members and guests expressed discomfort regarding the use of loud vulgar language directed at another stylist while inside our salon environment. Maintaining a professional, respectful atmosphere for both our guests and team is extremely important to us. Because the client declined the adjustment service we offered, we ultimately chose to fully refund the service and recommend returning to the original stylist who was familiar with the prior custom placement and cutting pattern she preferred. That recommendation was made in an effort to help her achieve the exact result she was accustomed to — not to avoid accountability. We also need to address the photos attached to this review. The images shown do not accurately reflect the completed work performed in our salon. Several photos depict extensions that appear to have already been removed or tampered with after leaving the appointment, making them inconsistent with the condition of the install when the guest departed. While we always welcome constructive communication and reasonable adjustment opportunities, we will also stand behind our team when accusations become misleading, hostile, or damaging to their professional reputation. We genuinely wish this client the best moving forward and hope she is able to find a stylist whose methods and approach better align with her expectations.
Shandrica is absolutely amazing! She is the owner of Cultivate in Maple Valley, and I cannot recommend her enough. I came in ready for a major hair transformation, going from very dark, almost black hair to a beautifully dimensional, lighter brunette, and she completely exceeded my expectations. Anyone who has gone from dark hair to lighter hair knows how difficult it can be to achieve dimension while still keeping the hair looking healthy, natural, and blended. Shandrica absolutely nailed it. The color is gorgeous, with the perfect amount of brightness and dimension, and the blend from root to ends is so seamless. My hair still feels healthy, shiny, and beautiful, which was incredibly important to me. Beyond being extremely talented, Shandrica really takes the time to listen to what you want and makes you feel comfortable throughout the entire process. You can tell she genuinely cares about her clients and the quality of her work. The salon itself is also beautiful, welcoming, and such an enjoyable place to spend a few hours. I am SO happy with my before and after and absolutely love my new hair. I don't know if they provide good hair service because I didn't get any. I found them while searching online for salons specializing in hair loss. I had in-depth discussion on phone about my situation and was adamant I could not use any extensions that were sewn or taped due to pressure on my hair. I specifically asked about Halos. I was advised they did not do halos but they had many options to help that would not aggravate my hair loss and they scheduled me a consult to meet with the owner, Shaddrica, who would assess and put me with an appropriate specialist. When I arrived I met with someone else (not the owner) and was advised they only did 2 kinds of extensions...taped and sewn in! I told her I didn't think I should have to pay the $50 consult fee since I specifically told the scheduler I could not do those kind and was assured they had many other kinds. She apologized for the misinformation indicating they had a lot of new girls who are still learning. She went and talked to the owner who came out and talked with me for about 10 minutes, explained why halos wouldn't work and said they had some super lightweight, small tape ins that she was sure would not cause more hair loss and if they did, they would tell me right away. She said she'd do a color match and get pricing together for me while I thought about it as it would take a bit to do the pricing. She did not do the color match but did collect the $50 consult fee that she assured me could be applied to service. After not hearing from her about pricing and talking with my dermatologist, I messaged her to tell her I decided against taking a risk with any extensions until we figure out the hair loss cause and asked if she would apply the $50 to a deep conditioning treatment. No response. So, I'm out $50 and received nothing. They are $50 richer and get this review. Can't believe anyone these days

Our $50 consultation fee covers the professional time, expertise, and individualized recommendations provided during the appointment and is credited toward a future service. While we respect your decision not to move forward with extensions, we are disappointed that you left feeling your consultation had no value. This is a very high end salon with excellent service! Many extras such as heated neck pads while you get your hair treated and cute puffy ottomans for your feet, and snacks. I highly recommend!
