Timothy was referred to me by a friend. I liked his positive reinforcement technique. He was willing to take my 90lb pitbull on training walks. He got him to stop chasing squirrels and cats and refocus on me during the walk. Timothy was great about explaining the why and how behind his training. My dog now…

Timothy was great! So personable, knowledgeable and amazing at what he does. My dog is very introverted and barks a million times when people visit. In one session he broke it down so simplistically and left us feeling encouraged and confident moving forward with a neutral calm dog. He is simply the best!!

Oh my goodness. Best trainer we have had for our dog. Learned so much about her and learn so much on things we can do and work with her to get her to our goal point with her. Definitely recommend him to anyone that is willing to put in effort with their dog and is willing to try and learn what can work for their dog. Thank you so much!

Did a great job with our 3 month old cavalier. My wife and I have been around dogs all of our lives but one forgets what a puppy is like. Timothy helped get us on track and have seen great improvements in our cavalier.

🐶🧨HIGHLY RECOMMEND 🧨👍👍 I have purchased mandatory 10 session packages with other reputable companies with no end in sight. I was frustrated after a lot invested in time and money that my dog and I could not be in eye sight of another dog on leash without drama. My dog attends daycare frequently and the vast majority of the time she does very well (it’s the leash and how I handled it). Before booking more sessions with the other company I checked out Timothy with Dog Basics PDX. I am so glad I did. Even in the first session she did so great with his dogs and strangers. He recommended also to move from the prong collar to the gentle leader which I was reluctant bc I can’t get her attention in the past. It was night and day. I can now take her to outdoor patios, walks or even busy markets with other dogs there without high stress or reaction. Friends of my dog all remarked what happened with her? I booked a 2nd session thinking I needed to keep working with him for x amount of time. After the second session, he said my dog was doing so good and encouraged us working on the new training he demonstrated. He offered to reach out to him as I needed along the way. He was honest, kind and fair with my dog and I. He is my go to from now on and who I recommend to others.

He got him to stop chasing squirrels and cats and refocus on me during the walk. Timothy was great about explaining the why and how behind his training. My dog now knows his place, will sit and lay down upon command, goes into a crate now, and recalls excellently. I’m so thankful for Timothy.

TLDR: Did my dog walk better on a leash after the session? Yes. Do I believe I could've gotten the same results by skipping the training session and just purchasing a gentle leader? Also yes Booked one training session to address my dogs leash pulling/chasing squirrels issue. I was hoping this would be the first of many, as my dog has resource guarding and reactivity issues that I'd like to resolve. The trainer recommended a gentle leader, which I had used with my previous dog and had great success. We walked her around the block to find some squirrels. She was already walking much better than before, but I honestly credit that to the gentle leader. There wasn't much training that actually took place in the hour that we had with the trainer. In fact, he did not interact directly with my dog at all. I'm not sure if this is a standard strategy, but he never greeted her, even after she had initially calmed down after his arrival. He did not pet her or touch her once. He never referred to her by name, only calling her 'them', leading me to believe he might not have known her name. I know it's not their job to 'play' with dogs, but would have been nice to see him give my dog any sort of attention or acknowledgement. The trainer spent a lot time talking about dog behavior through analogies of child behavior and parenting; not a lot of time spent talking about actual dog behavior/psychology. Worth mentioning that I don't have kids. He didn't mentioned if he has kids. So I'm not sure if it was the most helpful analogy. There wasn't much room for questions, and when I did try to squeeze them in, I was talked over. This place has great rating so I had high hopes, but would be lying if I said I didn't feel a little disappointed and unheard. All that to say, they have plenty of happy and satisfied customers, so they clearly they know what they're doing. Just comes down to personal preference I suppose.

Im sorry that on the day we were not able to run into any squirrels where you normally experience high stress. I see that your dog already has a great foundation and so the only missing piece was to train in the scenario. Unfortunately that didn't happen and I can see your full disappointment in the experience. I am happy to work with you and do what I can to resolve this. I have reached out as well and issued a full refund and if you ever want to reschedule to another day or want a referral to another Professional Dog Trainer like Noble or Urban, please let me know. (Criticizing my fatherhood was a bit unnecessary in your review) - Timothy (Owner)

Timothy is phenomenal! We had a thorough phone conversation before our first training session to discuss all of my concerns. He has fantastic communication. We talked outside without my dogs before we introduced to him and immediately he gave clear directions on how to proceed. My anxiety was through the roof before he walked in, and within minutes of his help, I was calm, collected and felt confident in what I was learning. My dogs did so well and so did I. We can't thank Timothy enough for his extraordinary service. I feel like my dogs and I have a new beginning to ease anxiety and successfully manage creating healthy and safe boundaries and habits for all of us. Five stars, 10/10 highly recommend!

Timothy has helped us with our new rescue Frankie substantially. After only one visit we saw major progress with easy to utilize tools when it came to her reaction to our cat. We were able to apply these tools to most other areas of concern. After the second visit we discussed separation anxiety and ways to help both Frankie and us manage, and now feel like we have a path moving forward. Our stress is way down overall and we would recommend Timothy to anyone looking for dog training that is easy to incorporate into a busy routine!

We had our first session with Timothy today for our over-excited 5-month old Goldendoodle, Zuki, who is always eager to meet new dog and human friends by immediately jumping on them! Within ten minutes of working with Timothy, we could already see a noticeable behavior change and by the end of our session she was offering us very good manners without even being asked. As her parents, we also learned better ways to guide her through the learning process. Thank you so much, Timothy!!!
