The folks at Hair of the Dog are always very nice and friendly and you get that they really care about your dog. Our dog, Dexter, comes out clean and relaxed and extra cute with his little bandanna. It’s great to go in and be greeted first by Sophia and then further greeted by smiles from the rest of the staff. A good experience all around.

I was very disappointed with my experience. My dog is a gentle, 15-year-old dog who simply needed his nails trimmed. I was told that it required two people to hold him and was then charged an additional fee.
I have taken him to other groomers where they were able to trim his nails without needing extra assistance…

Stop looking for a groomer. THIS SHOULD BE THE LAST PLACE YOU TRY! They are phenomenal. We've been bringing chewy here for over a year now and they are such a great team and do a really good job. I feel comfortable dropping her off and chewy looks 10 years younger and happier when she leaves haha

I was very disappointed with my experience. My dog is a gentle, 15-year-old dog who simply needed his nails trimmed. I was told that it required two people to hold him and was then charged an additional fee.
I have taken him to other groomers where they were able to trim his nails without needing extra assistance or charging an additional fee. I completely understand paying extra when a service genuinely requires additional time or staff, but in this case, I did not feel the extra charge was warranted.
What was most disappointing was the owner’s response when I raised my concern. I expected a more understanding and professional response, especially as a longtime pet owner advocating for my elderly dog. Overall, this experience left me very disappointed.

We are sorry you were not satisfied with your last visit with us. But at the same time, it's great to hear we were able to satisfy you for so many years prior to this. It's also great to hear you never had an issue with the actual service we provided. We pride ourselves in giving dogs of all walks of life the best attention, 15-year-old seniors, puppies, anxious pets, etc. And based on that sometimes it takes additional labor that will be charged accordingly. We do understand that not everyone may be willing to pay for the best care for their pet, but our prices reflect the level of care and experience we provide, I do hope you find a groomer within your budget that can care for your aging pup.

I genuinely don’t even know where to start with Hair of the Dog because they have been part of Thackery Binx’s life for SOOOO many years. I honestly feel like we were some of their very first customers, and at this point Myrissa and Daniel aren’t just his groomers, they are Aunt Myrissa and Uncle Daniel. We absolutely LOVE them.
And when I say Thackery Binx is a special boy, I mean SPECIAL. He has been through the ringer. Horrible experiences at boarding facilities, including one that ended in emergency dental surgery, a dog attack, bee stings, a scorpion sting, multiple allergic reactions, and being by our side through losing several immediate family members. He is extremely skittish and anxious, doesn’t trust people easily and has very sensitive skin and allergies. So trusting someone with him is a VERY big deal for us.
Does he still walk into Hair of the Dog shaking and acting like we have personally betrayed him? Absolutely. 😂 But we KNOW it is theatrics because we have literally caught him through the window loving all over Myrissa, Daniel and Sophia the second he thinks we’re gone. He comes out SO happy, looking amazing and with this little burst of confidence that makes my heart so happy every single time.
What means the most to me is that they genuinely KNOW him. They understand Binx needs patience and have built trust with a dog who does NOT give his trust easily. They take their time, know his sensitivities, respect his allergies and never make us feel like he is “too much.”
And I have to give Sophia her own shoutout because she is always SO bright and bubbly with him. She never just grabs his leash and rushes him back. She lets Binx take his time and waits for that little moment when you can almost see him realize, “Okay, I remember you. I think this is going to be okay.” She gives him kisses and hugs, lets him watch us walk out and waves goodbye with him before they get started. It may seem insignificant, but with an anxious dog like Binx, seeing someone respect what HE needs to feel safe means EVERYTHING.
They also take care of US. I travel constantly for work, so sometimes Grandma brings him in. They accommodate our crazy schedules and even let me handle payment over the phone so my mom doesn’t have to worry about anything. It truly feels like family.
I know some people mention the price or that their dog may be there for multiple hours, but personally, neither bothers me. I don’t WANT Binx rushed through an appointment. Let him decompress. Let them work at his pace. They call when HE is ready, not when I am ready to get him, and I LOVE that. Being able to drop him off and not spend those hours worrying about whether he is scared or being handled properly is priceless to me. The love, patience and care they give him is worth every single penny. I have never experienced this level of care with him anywhere else.
We bring Binx every 5–9 weeks depending on what he needs, and honestly, at this point Sophia and Myrissa are usually the ones texting US when it’s time for him to come back. 😂 We just show up! That is how much we trust them. You tell us when he needs to be back and we will make sure His Majesty is there.
Hair of the Dog has been with our family through so many ups and downs, and I hope they know how much they mean to us. They have loved and cared for our complicated, dramatic, sweet little Thackery Binx through every twist and turn. They are truly the BEST at what they do, but more importantly, they have some of the most loving and compassionate hearts in the world.
They’re not just Thackery Binx’s groomers anymore, they’re part of his little trust circle & our family. We love you guys!!! 🤍🐾

The whole staff was really great. Was super nervous to take one of my dogs because he's anxious around new people and dogs and usually barks like crazy. As soon as we walked in they greeted him like they knew him which kept him calm and he didn't bark once at them. They are really good with senior/ anxious dogs! Will definitely become a regular.

We’ve been taking our pup here for years! He can be rather particular and other groomers have not been able to work with him but they are amazing at Hair of the Dog! He doesnt even get nervous to be there, he’s relaxed and happy. They do such a good job too, he’s always so soft and handsome after!
