Google reviewers rate Lakewood Landscape & Construction LLC five stars based on 105 reviews, with the owner not responding to any feedback. Clients frequently cite punctuality, clear communication, and fair pricing for services including retaining walls, drainage, hardscape installation, and turf. While most praise the crew's thoroughness and willingness to exceed expectations, a low-star review alleges improper soil compaction and misleading explanations regarding drainage issues that persisted beyond the one-year guarantee period.

The crew came out on time and worked very fast, removing a large scrub area in our backyard. They did the job as described for a fair price.

Great service. I wanted to the front done and just mow the back and they end up doing a lot more work in the back, talked to the owner. Was a mistake but because the guys didn’t know. I offered to pay more and to continue the job because I liked it, they said for there mistakes are you okay with little extra, I…

Rudy always had a positive tone and showed an eagerness to work, but don't let that fool you. We paid him 5 figures to give us a nice, clean back yard with drainage, and a fence in the front (late-2024/2025). Neither were done properly and he lied to us as to why the back was so lumpy. Because of that lie, it took me beyond his 1 year guarantee to learn what really happened. He didn't compact the soil properly! Our grandchildren still can't play, roll a ball, run, etc. Companies today are not what they once were. There was a time they took pride in their work!
The Details:
THE BACKYARD: He was to remove all vegetation, install pipes and rain barrels underground with emergency emitters, grade to slope towards the rear, bring in new topsoil and seed with clover.
The day he finished it was lumpy. Rudy said it was squirrels. We hoped rain and watering would level it out, but it continually got worse. Forget a toddler walking or running on it. - We started a yard maintenance service, who said it was NOT squirrels, but it was improperly compacted. We wanted a lawn that our grandchildren could play on, which he was aware of. It's not usable in that way. If you run, you'll trip! If you walk, it's very hard, bumpy and lumpy. I asked Rudy to come take a look. He was sure to tell me it's been over a year, and I said that's because I believed you said it was squirrels. He did stop-by. Now he says the clover's the cause! HE seeded it, never said there could be an issue, AND the lumps started before seeding. More stories and excuses and refuses to take responsibility for anything.
He offered to dump new dirt onto what's currently there for an additional $700! Although I was appalled I actually considered it because something needs to be done, but then he kept delaying, no show after no show. I'm done, and left with a messed up yard! He simply doesn't care.
Additionally, he filled the rain barrels with rock (attached) and insisted this was correct, over and over and over. I finally had to show him a manufacturer's diagram (attached). He then had one of his workers remove the rocks.
THE FRONT FENCE: Install a side by side picket fence. He put the stringers very low and used nails throughout (attached). They did come back to brace the top of the pickets, but not without tremendous pushing to do so. Nails are starting to pop-out, it's not level and it looks ridiculous on the reverse. (We painted it white).
THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING!

Without a doubt, Lakewood Landscape is one of the best contractors in the state. The customer service provided by Rudy and his crew was extraordinary. The depth of experience was impressive as they were able to build walls, plant grass, install hardscape, clean gutters, assist with landscape lighting and sprinklers. Much of their work was done between November and March in exceptionally harsh conditions. The crew showed up every day and worked hard to meet a challenging deadline. Their prices were very fair and they did not hit me up for a bunch of extras as the project naturally evolved. When changes were necessary, Rudy always sent me an email describing the change and what the additional fee would be. The project was professionally managed and there were no surprises. I have recommended Lakewood Landscape to two of my neighbors, and they are both utilizing the company for weekly yard maintenance.
We recently had artificial turf installed by Lakewood Landscape, and I couldn't be happier with the experience.
I've worked with several contractors and service companies over the years, and it's common to deal with late arrivals, constant rescheduling, poor communication, or work that doesn't meet expectations. Lakewood Landscape was the complete opposite.
They showed up when they said they would, charged exactly what they quoted, and communicated clearly throughout the entire project. Their team was professional, reliable, and genuinely cared about making sure we were happy with the final result.
What impressed me most was how they went above and beyond to ensure everything was done right and that we loved the finished product. The artificial turf looks amazing, and the quality of their work exceeded our expectations.
If you're considering artificial turf or landscaping work, I highly recommend Lakewood Landscape. I'm so glad we chose them and would absolutely use them again.
