I absolutely love the care I have received with LifeStance. Anytime I've had concerns they have helped me come to a solution in a very timely fashion.
They charged my wife $125 for a "late cancelation fee". She showed up on time for the zoom meeting with doctor Jennifer Ulrich. She politely let the counsler know after 5 Minutes of meeting, that she did not feel comfortable with the zoom call and ended. Beware of this company and counsler. They will have any reasoning to charge incorrectly and not provide the service/environment needed.

The therapists are great but LifeStance is a conglomerate that acquired a bunch of smaller practices and they grew way too large too quickly, and without the technology infrastructure and business processes to support the growth.
INTAKE. We filled out detailed intake forms for our son online and once submitted, they just vanished and we kept getting notices to fill them out. In speaking to customer service, one guy said they definitely didn’t have the completed forms and a different person said they could see that the files were saved but they couldn’t access them, so we had to do them all over again.
BILLING. Their billing is inconsistent and it is impossible to reach them. We are often emailed what our balance is but when we log in to the patient portal to pay, it says there is a $0 balance. But if we show up to an in-person appointment, we can’t be seen without paying the ‘ghost’ balance that doesn’t exist online.
INSURANCE. They did not inform us when the therapist for one member of our household ceased accepting our insurance, so over the next few visits, we unknowingly incurred hundreds of dollars of charges. We called and emailed the billing department for months with no response. I finally got a call from Russ in Operations who said it would be written off but we still get emailed invoices a year later. Some members of our house are covered by two insurance policies and despite advising them that Tricare is ALWAYS secondary, Lifestance consistently billed them as primary so the claims would be denied and I’d have to unravel it all. Now that we don’t have Tricare, we tried updating our coverage online. It won’t let us add the new insurance, moved Tricare to secondary (instead of deleting), and now has the wrong insurance listed as primary.
BOOKING. Their patient portal is rudimentary at best. If you try booking, you receive an unrelated message about intake forms and it perpetually states nothing is available for your provider and to just call. You can see upcoming appointments but there is no cancel or reschedule mechanism, so the entire “booking” portion of the patient portal is just a list of anything you already booked over the phone. Oh, and nothing warns their CSRs of overlap, so today we had a therapist appt for our son but it overlapped an appt for the same kid’s medication manager.
CONTACT. When coordinating the appointments, confirmations, and billing for three household members became overwhelming, we changed all the contact and notification preferences for one child to the other parent in the house. We figured we’d share the burden. Over a year later and more than six conversations with customer service, we still get all appt notices, confirmation requests, invoices, etc. to the wrong email address and wrong phone number.
