Dianne, thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry our explanation felt like a sales pitch. Our intent was to explain the possible causes of the circuit issue and how we would investigate it.
An outlet that isn’t working can be affected by a problem elsewhere on the circuit, so looking at that outlet alone may not identify the cause. Before beginning diagnostic work, our process is to explain the scope and provide a price for approval. We had not reached the point of presenting pricing or recommending repairs when you chose to end the visit. The safety inspection we mentioned is complimentary and does not obligate you to purchase additional services.
We respected your decision to decline further work, and the $29 service fee was the only charge. We appreciate your feedback on our communication and would welcome a conversation about your experience. We look forward to serving you again if you give us another opportunity.

Nick, thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry our explanation left you feeling misled, and we’d like to clarify what our team found.
As part of every EV charger installation quote, we perform an electrical load calculation. In your case, adding the Tesla charger at its full charging capacity would exceed your home’s existing electrical service capacity. The concern was managing that additional electrical demand safely, rather than whether your Tesla charger could function.
We provided three options: a charger supplied by Magnify with load management capabilities, a compatible load management charger you could purchase yourself, or installation of your existing Tesla charger with a separate load management device. Replacing your charger was one option, and keeping it was also an option we offered.
We understand that receiving a lower quote elsewhere raises questions. We can’t speak to another contractor’s calculations or proposed scope, but we would be happy to review the differences with you. Our recommendations were based on the load calculation and our responsibility to protect your electrical system from overloading.
We would be more than happy to discuss this in more detail if you would like.
