Very professional work. We had an installation that was more complicated than expected and required running a line on the exterior. They came up with a solution that was reasonable. The installation could have been awkward, it they did it the right way and it went in without impacting the appearance of the house.

They sent someone very quickly, even though I'd said it wasn't an emergency. The worker answered my questions, and made suggestions and pushed back where needed (like "that's not according to code, but this other way would do what you want"). He was efficient. The price was in line with other places.

I had called another electrician that shall not be named and he quoted me several thousand for a simple wiring job. It was a simple job and I knew that was extreme. Told me I needed a new panel as well, just racking everything on. Malco was the next option and I explained I just want a 3 wire turned into a 4 wire…

I've had very minor intermittent power issues in my condo for years that suddenly got a lot worse lately. A few times a day, half the power in my unit would go out for a few minutes, and it was causing issues with my security system and AC unit. My neighbor in the condo below me had the same exact problem. The neighbor contacted a local firm that does plumbing, air and electric. They came out, ran some tests, looked at his outlets and wiring, and billed him $1,600 for the visit. They suggested that he may need to completely rewire his condo for $12,000 to solve the problem. It's very stressful to not know the cause of a problem and to think you'll have to keep spending money on repair after repair that may solve nothing. So I called Malco Electric at 7:30 am a few days later, and requested an experienced electrician to look at my condo issues fearing they would be difficult to diagnose. Andrew Brown from Malco was here by 9:00 am. After explaining to him all the issues in my condo, and that my neighbor below had the same problems, Andrew went outside to see where the electricity feeds into the building. He found that an older cable feeding 4 condo units (including mine and my neighbor's) was arcing which caused the intermittent power outages and was damaging the cable. He explained exactly why this problem caused power outages in only half my condo, and how it affected my security system and AC unit. So a series of mysterious issues that seemed insoluble, suddenly vanished after Andrew found the exact cause of all the problems. He was done in 1.5 hours, and billed me $230 for the visit.

2026 update - Malco to the rescue again! The doorbell suddenly stopped working. Andrew patiently worked his way through the circuit and was able to identify the source of the problem as as a short in a switch. He fixed the short and replaced the blown doorbell components with owner-supplied parts. The doorbell has worked perfectly ever since.
2023 - It's Christmas and all the outside lights suddenly went dark. We called Malco Electric and they were able to work us in and send techs out the same day! The techs were courteous and professional. They quickly identified a failed GFCI and replaced it with a high-quality replacement part. We have used Malco Electric several times before and have been happy with their response time and service every time. We highly recommend this business.

Working with a family-owned, local home service company is really important to me, given all of the recent PE roll-ups, and resulting lower quality and price haggling. Randy and his crew are the seasoned, professionals I was looking for, who do things the right way and are priced fairly. While my home had some partial remodeling in the past, I wanted the full electrical system assessed and made bulletproof proof, and that’s exactly what Malco did.
