Melina's Wildlife Rehabilitation Center at a glance
Reviewers report that the center handles rescues for injured or orphaned opossums, squirrels, and raccoons, often responding to calls late at night or on weekends. Customers frequently highlight the owner's availability, quick response times, and willingness to provide guidance or travel to pickup locations, even when at capacity. While the majority of feedback praises the compassionate care and professional advice, one low-star review describes a negative interaction involving perceived rudeness and unprofessional behavior during a request for assistance.

Wow, what an amazing human. Someone put her face on a candle because this woman is a saint. Even when she was unable to take the baby opossums we found (she was sick AND at max capacity) she offered a plethora of information, helpful tips, other resources/rehab centers. We were able to provide them with a safe…

Hope Revere5 reviewsiTotal number of Google reviews Hope has written across all businesses on Google Maps, not just this one.
Extremely rude and unprofessional. Was trying to get help and ended up being yelled at and told that it’s “people like me” that don’t know what they are doing when I’m literally reaching out for help. She’s a complete opposite of what these reviews say.
My response to your reply:
Let's clarify since you want to spin what happened to defend your actions.
Elliot fell from a roof in the middle of a storm at the church where I am in ministry and was practically dead due to exposure. In a sincere and heart felt attempt to save him, we warmed him up, called licensed rehabbers in the area and got no call backs. Having raised one as a child, I read up, left work and got him the best formula, crochet him a nest to keep him warm and began feeding him CAREFULLY SO HE WOULD NOT ASPIRATE. He was doing great, 3 weeks of round the clock feedings and care. When he wasn't interested in feeding and I began to hear a click, I once again starting searching for a rehab. You eventually answered and when I said I had a baby squirrel, you immediately said you were full and shouted a place to take him to which I couldn't even understand because your were in such a hurry to dismiss me. I said one second please, I'm asking if you know a place where I can take him to get antibiotics and your irrational and judgmental response was "listen to this one, its like a thief asking a police officer how to rob a bank." I don't see the correlation...it was more like me asking a "licensed rehabber" where I could get him the help he desperately needed and we desperately wanted to provide for Eliiot who we cared deeply for because you were full. And then, to top it off you said "That's what's wrong with people LIKE YOU "...(as if asking for assistance you could automatically form a judgment about who i am) "you get a squirrel and instead of rescuing them, you murder them." I was absolutely stunned at your unprofessionalism and unrighteous judgment of me. So I said thank you for your help and hung up.
I found a vet who began treating Elliot but despite our best efforts, he unfortunately passed away 3 days later. He didnt die from exposure or killed by a predator, he died because God willed it that way after much responsible assistance by us, a CARING AND LOVING veterinary doctor and loving hands that treated him, fed him, gave him shelter, sought professional help, LOVED HIM, and stayed with him until the end.
So yes you were very rude to me.
You were very insensitive to me.
You were judgmental and unprofessional to me in our interaction. You may be a wonderful person and you seem to care for animals, but that Monday was not your best day.
You made a difficult situation harder than it needed to be for the squirrel and the person who genuinely cared for his wellbeing.
Think next time before your verbally attack someone you dont even know, comparing them to thieves and a murderer of animals. You don't know me. You don't know that I was being wheeled into major surgery as he passed and the last words I said was Elliot as I sobbed.
You don't know me at all. Nor will I share anymore of Elliots caretakers because I don't have to convince you of anything.
I'm thankful Elliot was loved.
I'm thankful we crossed paths and I'm sure I'll see him again. Continue to advocate for wildlife but just take a dive into your own heart and see what motivated your response to my review. Are you trying to save your review stars or could you maybe just have apologized.
I hope you will review what happened that day on your own and search your heart and maybe just try to be a better human next time. We were blessed by Elliot... we will remember him always.

I didn't yell at you. You called me asking for advice on how to treat a baby squirrel you have for couple of weeks and it aspirated. You were asking me what antibiotics to give her and I told you I can't give advice when someone did something illegal because I can lose my license. I even gave you an example that the question is like a thief asking a police officer how to rob a bank. I asked you to take it to Pelican Harbor Seabird Station but you just wanted to handle yourself.

Silvia possesses an extraordinary combination of compassion and natural intuition, creating an environment where animals instinctively feel safe. If you encounter wildlife in need of assistance, she is the ideal person to contact. When a situation falls outside her direct scope, she ensures you are connected with the appropriate agency or professional who can provide the necessary support.
