1-Star Review: Misleading Information and a Lack of Trust
I had a very disappointing experience with Mr. Plumber after they sent Brett Greene to my new home to discuss installing a reverse osmosis system and water softener.
Brett initially told me that the only way to install the reverse osmosis system was to connect it to my kitchen sink. My new home has beautiful stone countertops and a brand-new refrigerator with a beverage station, and I was left with the impression that my refrigerator’s filtered water feature would be useless.
After accepting that as my only option I consulted other resources and Brett said he needed to consult with an engineer or another plumber to determine whether the system could be connected directly to the refrigerator. Later, I was told that the only alternative was to run a line through the wall. Since then, I have received information from multiple other sources indicating that there may be other options worth exploring.
What concerns me most is that I was given definitive answers before all the installation options appeared to have been properly investigated. For a $4,768 service, I expected accurate information, a thorough evaluation, and clear communication—not to feel pushed toward a solution that could compromise the features I specifically wanted to use in my brand-new home.
When I explained that I no longer trusted the company, Mike the manager told me that my service would be canceled. However, I never received a cancellation confirmation by email. After reviewing my contract and financing paperwork, I became concerned that the cancellation had not actually been completed.
I understood that I had a three day cancellation period under the applicable terms and wanted to make sure my rights were protected. I should not have been left wondering whether a $4,768 contract and its associated financing had actually been canceled after being told by management that it would be.
My experience left me questioning the accuracy of the information I was given and whether my interests as a customer were being properly considered.
I strongly encourage anyone considering an expensive installation to get all proposed options in writing, carefully review the contract and financing documents, and obtain a second opinion before proceeding.
Trust and transparency matter, especially when you’re spending $4,768 on your home. Unfortunately, my experience with Mr. Plumber fell far short of my expectations. Shame on Costco for referring such untrustworthy people.
