My experience was great with Republic Roofing. Matt Tidwell was my contractor. His word is his bond and he has great attention to detail. He is on top of everything each step of the way. I definitely would do business with him again. This is the way business should be conducted. They will not disappoint.
Having to replace a roof for the first time was a scary prospect! But there we were… My wife & I were hoping to work in a fix to a gutter issue over our back patio early In the summer. But we learned we had a much larger problem.
The roof over our heads, the one that by now was about 12-ish years old… the roof I thought, when we bought the house 8 year’s ago, would be 1 less problem for me for at least…20 years?…was majorly deteriorated! It turned out the newer roof was laid over the original 3-tab shingles from when the home was built in 2000. And due to improperly ventilated ridge vents and other issues, the aggregate on the shingles had worn to where the fiberglass could be seen throughout. This opened up a leaking issue in a section in the rear of our house from the dormer to the patio. So, our little gutter misalignment problem was more of a fascia pulled away from water-damaged rotting rafters problem!
And now a summer fix-it project has become a need for a major investment! And now I need a nap intermission from writing this far. (Zzz😣)
After doing some shopping around, suffering a bit of serious sticker shock at times, a visit to the cardiologist just to, well, make sure…we found Ben from Republic. He came recommended by a friend of the family because, face it, we all lean our family and friends’ opinions in times like these. Mr. Ben looked at everything. Now by this point, we already knew about the damage in the back, but Ben walked us through a detailed plan that a couple of non-roofers could understand on how to fix the problem. After touring the attic upstairs, he offered a plausible explanation as to why we needed to replace our roof so soon (poor ventilation, shingle layering, low-grade underlayment, etc.) It made sense. And after speaking with several other roofing suitors, our Republic rep’s detailed plan was the best option. No cutting corners, quantity products…and the price, comparatively-speaking for overall work, was better.
After a a couple weeks (we’re in the summer rush now - early August). It was time for the install. It was hot, but not yet “August hot”. Normally, I’m told, it would take 2 days for a complete replacement. But they had to do some rafter work and decking replacement in the back. And I have a small detached double garage (also needing a little decking TLC). I was off work the days of the install, so I got to see the crew work. I’ll just say, roofing is a tough job for tough people! But they worked all day, till it was dark out till they were done. Now check this out: Ben even personally touched up some spots where paint had peeled from the siding over our front gables! And it looks great now (of course)!
Overall, the new roof is beautiful! We now have quality underlayment with water/ice barriers for all our dormers and valleys. The difference in our attic ventilation is amazing. And Ive been up there on real hot August days. It’s much better than it was. We did find issues with a few damaged shingles after the job, but the issue was corrected the next day. Mr. Ben had 2 of his best guys out to replace them. We’re still waiting for a good rain to battle-test the finished product. But we’ve been assured that we have a 2-year warranty to address any problems, leaks defects if any should arise.
We’re happy with what we got! A roof is a tough investment. You have to find the right people.

You captured exactly why that first “little gutter fix” turned into a bigger project: a roof layered over the original 3-tab, poor ventilation, and water that had already gone to work on the fascia and rafters. We’d always rather show you the real story in the attic than paper over it, and we’re glad Ben walked you and your wife through a plan that actually made sense — no cut corners, no bargain-bin products.
Ben’s the kind of guy who’ll touch up your gable paint just because he’s up there, so that part doesn’t surprise us one bit. 👍 And thank you for your patience on the few shingles we had to come back and correct — getting our two best guys back out the next day is exactly how it should go. When that good rain finally shows up, we’re confident the new underlayment, ice-and-water in the dormers and valleys, and the improved ventilation will do their job — and your 2-year workmanship warranty has you covered either way.

I’m 81 years old and had noticed when i would drive up the driveway my roof had shiny spots and the edges of the shingles also had shiny spots
So for several weeks I had been talking to three or four different roofing companies
Wanting to get some ideas about what to expect
I retired from Kraft foods where i always had to get 3 different estimates before purchasing
So when Mr. Wolfe came and we talked about my roof situation
I already knew how many squares my roof was from the previous job
Mr. Wolfe was very knowledgeable about the code and the changes since my last roofing job
He told me how many squares i needed , which was exactly the amount
I loved the fact about the new metal that went around the perimeter of the roof
The new material that replaced the old tarpaper was a great improvement
The new material for the valley’s on my bay window was also a great improvement
The crew was very professional and protected my wife’s flowers and my new central air unit
They cover everything with large tarps
They cleaned everything up before they left
Ran a magnet over the whole area to pick up any nails
