Sit Means Sit Dog Training - East Central Minnesota at a glance

Google reviewers rate this dog training facility 4.8 out of 5 based on 59 reviews, with the owner responding to 97 percent of them. Customers frequently praise the trainers for their patience, clear communication, and ability to address issues like reactivity, aggression, and basic obedience through private coaching and in-home sessions. The indoor facility is noted for being clean and suitable for year-round training. One common criticism involves the program's reliance on shock collars for correction, with some reviewers arguing that dogs become overly dependent on the device rather than responding to verbal commands alone.

We took our Dog Hank for disobedience training as Hank had a hard time listening and was overactive and would not listen. Tessie work with us for four weeks and after training was a completely different Dog. Much Thanks Tessie.

Thank you for sharing your perspective. I would like to clarify what occurred. First, my name is Tessie, not Sydney. When I entered the roadway, I did not realize how quickly you were approaching. Afterward, you accelerated and began following very closely behind my vehicle while waving obscenities at me. In an effort to create additional space and avoid a dangerous situation, I increased my speed to over 60 mph. When I needed to make a turn, I briefly applied my brakes as I needed you to slow down to complete my turn. After I completed my turn, you accelerated, braked hard, leaving skid marks on the road, and brought your vehicle across both lanes before stopping and confronting me. During that interaction, you were yelling and threatening to call the police. This incident had nothing to do with our dog training services, our clients, or the care we provide to dogs. We take great pride in the professionalism, safety, and results we deliver for every dog and family we work with. We remain committed to treating both our clients and their dogs with respect and care. We wish you the best and encourage everyone to prioritize safety on the road.

My husband and I met with Tessie to discuss our reactive 5 month old puppy. I had been working with her but she was becoming reactive and I wanted to work with her on it before it became worse. The first meeting with Tessie was amazing. We felt like she would really be able to tailor the training to our dog. We completed 6 in home training sessions with the last one out at a park and the help we received was tremendous. We have been able to now let our dog off leash at home. We have taken her to the park and she no longer barks and lunges and people. We have even taken her to her first DQ trip and sat on the patio. She loves going to seeing new places. We would have never gotten to this point if it hadn’t been for Tessie. She is always available for questions or if I ever needed some reassurance she was there. We would highly recommend Tessie at Sit Means Sit!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience, Cheryl. We're thrilled Tessie could tailor a plan that helped your pup overcome reactivity and reach milestones like off-leash at home, calm park visits, and that first DQ patio trip. Tessie will be happy to hear your kind words and that her availability made a difference. We appreciate your recommendation and are here if you need ongoing support.

I'm editing my review years later: new dogs new problems-- Same incredible outcome. We are repeat clients because different dogs need different approaches. Tessie is helping us find balance between our young livestock guardian dogs (who are litter mates to boot) and older house mutts. I haven't seen Tessie shy away from a challenge yet and she's so tuned into the dogs energy and behaviors my 4 year old daughter is inspired to train just like her. Like all dog training: you get what you put into it. That being said, these ladies do an incredible job of learning each dog and seeing the individual needs to build a better relationship with you and your dogs. We brought in our two girls ages 11 and 3 for constantly fighting each other to the point of vet visits and stitches. The girls are so much easier to de-escalate now and redirect them to something more productive.

Tessie is a lifesaver! I was hesitant to pull the trigger with professional training until my German Shepherd’s aggression progressed & worsen. I heard of Tessie at Sit Means Sit through a friend and after I finally accepted that I needed help with training my dog, I scheduled my first session with Tessie. Immediately, my dog’s behavior and our bond improved greatly. Within 3 sessions, my aggressive dog was walking within 5 feet of other animals peacefully. And after two years of living with separating my dog and two cats , Tessie is helping me teach my dog to coexist with my cats. It’s a miracle! My dog & I would not be where we are today without Tessie! I have so much more peace in my life with my dog’s trust in me. With Tessie’s help, I’m confident that all of my animals will peacefully coexist soon. Training with Tessie is hands down one of the best investment decisions that I’ve ever made. If you want quick guidance and improvement in your dogs’ lives, go to Tessie! Seriously- a lifesaver!

Tessie at sit means sit has been wonderful. We rescued a malamute who was adopted/returned twice due to different reasons. In his almost two years of life, he never had a home to call his own. His behavior showed this, and Tessie gave us the tools we needed to help our fur baby learn and grow in his home!
