My move was from Boston to NYC.
My movers were friendly enough, but I would not hire again. They don’t charge a flat fee. You’re given an estimate, but you will pay by the hour. It does not reward efficiency, and I was quite surprised at how long my movers took to disassemble and reassemble furniture. They also got stuck in traffic. Ultimately I paid more than 4k more than I was quoted. Part of that was on me because I asked them to put together a piece of furniture that they weren’t obligated to do, but this was done quite slowly.
everything arrived fine, so I’m giving two stars instead of one. but I wouldn’t hire again because of the massive discrepancy between the quote and the end charge (and the beginning quote was already on the high side of average, I believe). Communication was also a bit difficult because only one of my three movers spoke English. For folks considering movers, I would recommend a place that either offers a flat rate or has a proven track record of being on par with their quoted rates.
I honestly feel a little price gouged. A move of this sort should have been under 3k, and I paid around 2.5x that.
