I had a mold issue happen in my basement due to water issues. After contacting multiple vendors, I choose Basement Gurus for their professional assessment and aggressive pricing.
I worked with Josh Massaro who set everything up. The work started on Oct.6th and they finished by Oct 9th as promised.
The on-site service technician was Jesus who did an excellent job. Their team arrived early worked hard throughout the day. Basement Gurus removed my old failed sump pump system which had three different pits. I learned that the previous owner was just patching problems with a new sump pump pit every time a water problem appeared. Basically the old work was done poorly.
Basement Gurus tore out all the old stuff and put in 1 (only) new sump pump pit with brand new French drain system. This french drain system used a type of PVC pipe that was pitched to drain water away to the pit. They replaced all my window wells and added drains and a cover to keep water out and carry it away. They also built 2 new landing pads in the basement stepwell, one at the top and the bottom. Lastly they added clean out for the french drain system.
We did have one hiccup as the crew accidentally left one of the old sump drain lines connected in the wall. This line was connected to a joint storm drain with my neighbor. We had gotten rain the upcoming weekend and water started to gush out the old pipe in the side of my wall. However this was an easy fix as Basement Gurus immediately dispatched over three hours away to do an emergency fix. Their tech Jesus, dug the ground up outside and disconnected the old service then cemented the hole on the outside and inside of my house. I haven't seen any problems since. If that issue hadn't happen, I would have given them 5 stars.
Overall, I was very pleased with the professional service I received from Basement Gurus. They sprayed the walls down with a antimicrobial spray and a added a protective insulated silver barrier around my entire basement. I am truly grateful to Josh, Jesus and the whole Basement Gurus team. They did a fantastic job and my family is happy. I highly recommend their service.

I've never seen an individual try harder to please his clients than Josh Massaro does! He works tirely preparing the work orders and contracts of potential clients and repeat clients on all structural repairs, waterproofing repairs, waterproofing Foundation repairs, basement leaks, basement cracks, and he also works on Stone foundations, concrete foundations, and cinder block foundations preparing these estimates! Basement gurus can also build you a walkout entrance, basement gurus can do an egress window for you, and they can fix both of these as well! Thanks for the great feedback about Josh and Philadelphia

everything was explained to me from A to Z, I want to thank Josh for his outstanding customer service skills as he brought to my attention something I did not think I needed and that an extra drain on the step leading to cellar door at no charge. Josh sent me crew the following week after our first meet and and what a crew, they exceeded my expectations on every level and they cleaned up the place when job was completed as if they were never in my basement.
Josh made sure I had 2 pumps with battery back up and state of the art the technology.

I hired Basement Gurus to address a water problem in my basement and paid them nearly $8,000 for the repairs. The work appeared to resolve the problem for about a year, during which time I had my basement bathroom remodeled.
After the remodeling was completed, water began seeping back into the basement. I contacted Basement Gurus and spoke with Dawn, Bonnie, and Dan. They sent Roberto to make the necessary repairs. Unfortunately, he never completed the work. He left his tools and supplies in my basement and left my newly remodeled bathroom and finished basement torn up and unfinished.
I made several attempts to contact Basement Gurus to have the work completed and to resolve the situation, but they eventually stopped responding to my calls and messages.
I was forced to take the matter to Small Claims Court, where I won a judgment against the company. However, despite the court judgment, I have still not received the settlement that was awarded to me.
This experience has been extremely stressful and financially damaging, especially as a senior citizen who is trying to prepare for retirement. I paid nearly $8,000 expecting the water problem to be properly resolved, and instead I was left with additional damage, unfinished work, and an unpaid court judgment.
Based on my experience, I would strongly caution others to thoroughly research Basement Gurus before hiring them. I am extremely disappointed with how this company handled my situation and with their failure to resolve the matter even after a court judgment was entered in my favor.
