We feel so lucky to be working with the Divergent Planning team. They are extremely knowledgeable, responsive, well-organized, proactive, and communicative. They have excellent follow-through, and we are able to reach them quickly. We have learned a great deal from them about financial and retirement planning. They have helped us understand our spending habits and have engaged us in important financial goal setting. The Divergent team makes our financial planning and monitoring meetings very efficient and effective; they create the meeting agenda well in advance and ask for clients to finish tasks prior to meeting, come well prepared with questions for us, share observations on our spending and earnings, discuss action items, and follow up with meeting notes and to-do lists. They employ planning software that models future spending and investment yields using hundreds of simulations that calculate the likelihood of reaching financial goals given certain parameters. They can adjust parameters to test out new scenarios. Divergent's underlying investment process is based on using an array of ETF's (rather than selecting individual stocks), and a mix of equities and bonds adjusted to your own risk and return preferences. The Divergent team is easy to work with, cuts through the administrative trivia required to transition from your existing accounts, and rationalizes your assets. They are a real pleasure to work with, and we recommend them very highly.

Back in 2011 I was complaining to a dear friend of mine about the dreadful damage I’d taken in the Stock Market in 2008 and how much of it was non-recoverable. I said, “I’m 57 years old and I’m such an idiot when it comes to investing. I sure wish I had a good financial advisor that I could trust to handle this stuff for me.” He immediately gave me Ara Abrahamian’s number at Divergent Planning along with his highest recommendation. My wife and I met with Ara a few days later. We were very impressed. He’s young and honest and able to make financial things very exciting and interesting. We didn’t have piles of money to invest, but thankfully he said we had enough for him to work with. He began consolidating our various investments, getting rid of the toxic ones that still remained, generally cleaning house. Even more, he began guiding us through the processes of getting things that responsible people are supposed to, like getting a will, getting umbrella insurance, setting up our whole financial picture so that when the time comes, our kids will have an easy time sorting things out. After every meeting he’d always have a “to-do” list for us. As a result, our financial house is in much better order than the houses of many other wealthier people that I know. Some of them have passed and their kids are faced with a nightmare of sorting out paperwork and money. Thanks to Ara and Divergent Planning, that will not be the case with my wife and I. Most exciting of all for me was that within a year or 2, Ara started encouraging us to think about retiring. I was an electrician, and figured that I’d probably work until I dropped. But all of a sudden, Ara was crunching numbers on his computer showing us that if we continued investing at our present rate we’d be able to retire before age 63. Sure enough, at 62 and 8 months, my wife and I both retired. We have 6 years in, lots of time with grandkids, and wouldn’t trade those years for anything in the world. Ara and Divergent Planning come with our very highest recommendation. And Ara’s not the only one. Matt and the others at the firm also are just the best. Honest, full of integrity and personally driven to help their clients get the most out of our money and our time. They are WONDERFUL.
