John Fountain Photography at a glance

Customers describe John Fountain Photography as punctual, communicative, and flexible, noting that the photographer often provides creative shot ideas and delivers digital files quickly. Reviews highlight the professional demeanor and ability to make subjects feel comfortable during weddings, engagements, and headshots. However, one low-star review alleges inappropriate behavior toward female guests, specifically entering a bridal suite without permission, which stands in contrast to the overwhelmingly positive feedback regarding the quality of the images and the overall experience.

He got great photos (turned them around very quick) of our guests and the whole evening. We communicated with him easily and everything went great. Not that it matters, but we’re also a same-sex couple if helpful. We really enjoyed working with John!

John did amazing photography at my mountain cabin that pushed my listing to the top of Airbnb rankings! He captured the most beautiful light and settings that really showed his professional eye for photography. He also shot pics of my Jacksonville home that enabled me to sell by owner. He made every room shine like a palace and added ideas and options to really make my listing shine! During a career change he took exceptional headshots for me and my team for our professional photos we still use on all of our business cards and Linked In. I’ve known John for over 20 years and he is by far the best photographer anyone could ever find for wedding photos, graduation, anniversary etc. His stellar, friendly personality shows in every photo as if he was part of your family in the experience capturing details you didn’t even know until you see the photos of your special moment. I highly recommend John!! I wish I could post pics!!

John Fountain photographed our wedding and had a deeply negative impact on the night for ourselves and many of our guests. We are writing this review to warn other couples about his lack of professionalism and inappropriate behavior with female guests. First, early in the night, he entered the bridal suite (where the bride and bridesmaids were getting dressed, putting on makeup, etc.) to take pictures of the bridal party and made the comment, “Look at all this game for me to hunt.” We laughed it off, but should have taken this comment more seriously. Later in the night, several guests reported that, during the reception, he was seen holding his camera down by women’s legs on the dance floor to take pictures. Upon noticing this, a guest asked what he was doing and he replied, “Women shouldn’t wear dresses if they don’t want their legs photographed.” We were also told that he made several women feel very uncomfortable (e.g., by being too physically close to them on the dance floor; hitting on them; asking an employee to take her name tag off for a photo; and pulling them aside for specific photos). He took very few photos of our maid of honor but took many photos of one specific bridesmaid. His actions and inappropriate behavior left the latter bridesmaid in tears. When we were alerted to his behavior, we asked him to leave the wedding, at around 9pm. Prior to this, and unbeknownst to us, he was confronted about pulling women aside for individual photo shoots by our wedding coordinator at around. Immediately afterwards, he pulled us (the bride and groom) aside and asked for the remainder of his payment by check (yes, in the middle of our wedding). In addition to Mr. Fountain’s inappropriate behavior with our female guests, he also conducted himself unprofessionally throughout the wedding. Examples include: a) one of the staff informed us that he was serving himself alcohol throughout the night and appeared intoxicated; b) during the pre-wedding photos, he repeatedly stopped to show off the photos he took (instead of simply moving on to the next photo). This required us (the bride and groom) to keep him on track so we were on time for the ceremony; c) and finally, his style of posing was very intense and made taking photos generally unpleasant. In hiring Mr. Fountain, we relied on the many glowing reviews we found on Google and The Knot. Thus, we were shocked by his inappropriate and unprofessional behavior. As stated earlier, his actions significantly negatively affected our wedding night, our guests’ experiences, and our memories of what was otherwise a wonderful evening. We cannot recommend not hiring Mr. Fountain strongly enough to future couples considering his services.

Wow, where do I even start? This is such a disturbing review, and to be honest all based on thin skin, assumptions, and people taking things out of context. I was originally going to respond with class, but this unhappy, miserable person is slandering my character, saying things that are simply not true, and I’m not going to tiptoe around it. I will defend myself properly. Since she’s making it a point to post this all over the internet in a smear campaign, it’s gloves off. I checked out her FB page and she's a self-proclaimed Liberal and anti-Trumper. That says all you need to know as you look into this. Most of what she says is simply not true — assumptions, hearsay, and dare I say, "LIES." I’m not sure why Karen waited 70 days to launch this attack. At no point was I intoxicated at this wedding — if anything, they all were. At the end of the night, we stayed an extra 45 minutes for free. I had two drinks in the last 30min. on my time on a full stomach, and I earned them. I 100% did not say anything about “hunting girls.” Really, like I’m going to walk into a dressing room full of bridesmaids and say that? I have been known to say that when I’m at an event, I’m constantly “hunting” for something to photograph. So however they got that twisted is beyond me. Maybe I should have been more upfront about asking for payment at the end of my shift, but clients with class hand me an envelope without needing to ask. As for “hitting on the girls” — what a joke. At this point, I’m kind of pissed that Rachel is lying here. I didn’t hit on anyone, and she acts like I’m getting too close on the dance floor. The place was small and packed — like I had a choice. I’ve been doing this for 24 years, and I’ve never asked for anyone’s name, let alone hit on them. I guess taking portraits of all the guests is now considered “hitting on girls”? If that was perceived that way, then that’s a first for me. I took pictures of everyone — young, old, male, female — it’s just what I do. The shot where I angle the camera up is called a low hat shot, and I do this all the time. If you look at just about all of my galleries, you’ll see that I like to get creative with angles. When I work, I think I’m allowed to take a portrait of anyone there — it takes just one minute. This bride apparently got the wrong impression or just didn’t care for my personality — I do like to have fun and joke around on wedding days, because it’s supposed to be fun. She seemed to be miserable all day for some reason. There were clearly a lot of assumptions and hearsay, and it looks like accusations that simply aren’t true. I’d be happy to show the entire gallery to anyone who wants to see if there are any inappropriate images. People should not make assumptions and post things like this, because defaming someone’s character can lead to legal issues. Don’t read too far into this. I invite you to read all of my other reviews and see for yourself. For whatever reason, Karen — I mean Rachel — waited 70 days to post this, and it’s completely overboard. Does it make her feel good to slander a damn good guy and photographer? After 750+ weddings, you won’t find reviews like this anywhere else. Enjoy your pictures and be happy. This has gotten so overboard that I’m actually considering hiring an attorney for a defamation case. If any of my brides read this, please feel free to chime in and set the record straight. This reviewer clearly has issues.

Highly recommend, the pictures turned out better than we could’ve asked for. John was amazing throughout the night, I’m not a huge fan of pictures and he understood and helped me get through pictures quickly while capturing everything I wanted. Couldn’t have asked for a better photographer.
