I have been going to the Stan Parente Maple Valley Salon for a few years. My sons wedding was happening so I decided to switch to a new hairstylist and spend more than I am used to on the services due to this major event. I decided on Jessilyn due to her being a senior stylist. I made an appointment a week in advance. Everything was going well till the person at the front desk came to the back where I was at the sinks getting rinsed and said there was a person that needed to get their hair styled and could Jessilyn do it. With no regard to me and my in-progress appointment she agreed. From there on I was delegated to the helpers in the salon to finish what was needed at the sinks. Jessilyn then rushed over cut my hair quickly in an obvious rush to get to the other client and appears to have forgotten what we had discussed for my haircut and the wedding. She cut my hair much shorter than asked. The helper even asked Jessilyn what was going on evidently frustrated and Jessilyn stated that she is only doing what she is told. I was then delegated to the helper that had been sweeping the floor to blow dry my hair. It was obvious the poor helper did not know what she was doing. I ended up with a flat head of hair with no body. Jessilyn who was next to me cutting the other person’s hair, did not even check to see how my hair turned out and if there needed to be any additional trimming made to my hair. When I went to pay, I mentioned what happened to the front desk person, and she got very rude and asked me to pay and leave. At that point I was very disappointed and not happy with the treatment of a long-time customer and left. I know they want to make money and fit in as many customers as possible but, if there is a customer in the middle of getting a haircut and color especially for a very special event, they should not shortchange them just to make more money and fit someone else in. Especially with the amount I was paying for the service due to Jessilyn being a senior stylist.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that you were unhappy with your experience. We do want to provide a little more context about what happened that day.
The additional appointment Jessilyn took was actually a favor to another stylist whose was running very behind, and Jessilyn stepped in to help so that their client wouldn’t be left waiting any longer. Your appointment was still moving forward, and Jessilyn completed your haircut before the blow-dry and styling were finished by one of our assistants. We realize this is not the ideal situation and it’s not how we typically run our day but this was an unusual situation and the front desk was just trying to find a way to make it work. Our assistants are there to be able to help with these portions of services, and they are trained to support our stylists and clients throughout the appointment. The assistant that helped for this appointment is a licensed cosmetologist.
Unfortunately, toward the end of the appointment, the situation became increasingly heated, with our team being spoken to in a raised and confrontational manner. We always try to remain professional and respectful, even when a client is upset. You ultimately left the salon without completing the checkout process or paying for the services that had been provided.
We truly value our longtime clients and appreciate feedback when someone feels their experience fell short. However, we also feel it’s important to share some context about this particular situation. We wish you all the best moving forward.

Jessilyn is absolutely fantastic! My highlights are always the perfect shade of blonde, and the care she takes with my extensions has allowed my hair to grow and stay so healthy.
