Customers frequently highlight the knowledgeable and friendly staff who provide specific advice on pet nutrition and unique product selections, including exclusive toys and human-grade foods. The store is noted for its small neighborhood atmosphere, loyalty programs, and in-store animals that interact with visitors. One recurring criticism involves the store's limited capacity to accommodate large or strong dogs, with some reviewers noting that the space may not be suitable for such pets.

I can’t explain why, but cat toys from The Animal House just hit different. My cat is always way more obsessed with the toys I get here than from anywhere else. It’s like they’re soaked in catnip and magic. And the freeze-dried treats that they recommended! Absolute cat crack.
Great personal interaction with the owner and employees. They are very knowledgeable and helpful. Support your local small businesses. And they have a loyalty program.
I was on a walk with my Rottweiler, I live in Pac Height so I normally we don’t walk in this area, on my way back I happen to stumble on to this place called Animal house, we usually go to George near my place, I thought, this is cool. +Koutávi+ I was taken into the 77th Precint on the 4th of July. I was injected with a shot supposedly meant to help me avoid tetenus. A gash on my head after a fight over tacos. Jack in the box or? Irony. Deviant and horrible! I'll find the humour in the end!
I come here every time I am in SF. Today I was walked through several different dog foods and got amazing feedback. They are kind and the store is cute and ink of supporting them. Also great selection of doggie clothes!
What a lovely experience for a first-time visit, I'm sure I'll become a regular and improve this for review throughout the many more years to come.

This place is really cute as long as you don’t have a big strong dog, if you do I don’t recommend you going here, I know I have a big strong dog and Im use to people over reacting because of her look and size, she also lives with two cats so the guy behind the counter can relax! And NO I will not chain her to a tree I will just shop elsewhere!! Lost a sale !!!
