Review from Google · view on GoogleAdvice for Future Consumers Based on this Company's Google Reviews and Responses: I fell into the trap of trusting this company's high Google rating, but I strongly encourage you to look at Top Shelf’s Yelp reviews instead, several of which are actually very poor. You will quickly notice that the positive Google reviews heavily praise a few specific, top-tier moving crews by name. Unfortunately, we did not get any of those movers. If you choose to hire this company, do not get duped like we were: force the manager (Jordan) to contractually commit to the specific crew names beforehand. Otherwise, you risk paying premium prices only to receive an underskilled and unprofessional team like we did, constantky complaining about stairs. I am a strong believer in honesty, facts, and integrity when conducting business. Because management chose to reply with a heavily fabricated timeline to save face publicly, I am updating this review with the truths. The company claims they do not bill and charge late fees over weekend moves. I have uploaded a screenshot of the an invoice showing that we were indeed billed over the weekend of our move and that a late fee was actively applied while my phone calls abour our concerns were ignored—this completely contradicts management's claim below that they held from billing. You can also see that we were charged quite a bit and had problems for a relatively small inventory. I would also suggest you challenge the business's google respone claims with basic logic: if management had actually offered an "immediate", viable solution or a second crew that day which they state, why would my family ever incur the extra stress and cost of hiring a separate team that day? We wouldn't. You'll see from the attached screenshot of managment's message that the reality is that we were left stranded in the garage with a crew that flatly refused to problem-solve. We were told another crew could "try" another day with no guarantees. I almost never write negative reviews, which indicates just how bad his experience was relative to several other movers. In fairness, I initially told management that the effort was "fine" and that they "seemed to try hard," foe smaller items. But we were really relying on this crew for larger items and assembly, for which their expertise completely vanished. These were by no means exceptionally large items (eg, one was a loveseat). Per management's response, it is true that we accepted a partial couch-fee discount as a resolution, so I also want to be honest and appreciate the small gesture there (even though everyone I know in this area finds it unbelievable that a moving company would just leave items in a garage). It is true management asked for my feedback, which I provided. Sadly, seeing this dishonest public response proves they don't want to listen or improve and their practices align with what others have reported on Yelp. As several others have mentioned about our own experience, "some people just don't want to work." Original review: We hired Top Shelf expecting premium, service for a very premium price. We received an incredibly subpar experience. The crew lacked basic tools (they borrowed ours), attitude, and expertise for a general, small home move. The biggest issue was their total refusal to problem-solve. When it came to moving 2 completely standard couches up a very small flight of stairs, the crew flatly refused to try, claiming "nothing is possible," and dismissed common-sense solutions (like unscrewing the couch feet). They left a couch in our garage and another love seat downstairs, telling us we had to work it out with the company. To prove how unacceptable this was for a "premium" mover, a separate furniture delivery crew arrived immediately after. Seeing the couch stuck in the garage and the other loveswar that Top Shelf refused to move, the team looked at our home and offered to safely move the couches in less than 10 minutes with a fantastic attitude. Management then dodged communicarion during the moving weekend, yet they sent us "overdue" invoices.

Hi Gian, thank you for the feedback. I'm sorry the overall experience didn't meet what you expected from us. I also want to share the full timeline for anyone reading this, since a few details were left out. Our crew called our office that day to say they didn’t feel comfortable bringing the couch through the doorway without risking damage to it or your door frame. Our office called you directly while the crew was still on site to talk it through, at that point you told us the crew had worked very hard, and didn’t raise any other concerns about the move. We offered to send a second crew out the very next day to see if getting the couch inside without causing any damage was possible, and you agreed. That evening, you texted us to say you no longer needed us to come back, so we called off that crew. On the invoice: our office didn’t manually send the invoice. Our software automatically generates a reminder tied to the move date, and we responded to you directly shortly after it went out. Any late fee tied to that automated reminder was waived before you paid; you were only charged for the job itself, minus the discount we applied once we learned the couch had been handled by someone else. We genuinely take feedback like this seriously and always want to improve. We also reached out directly afterward hoping to better understand your experience so we could do right by future customers — that offer still stands any time. I'm sorry this wasn't the experience we aim to deliver.
