Three years of traditional physical therapy without a real change is a long time to keep showing up and keep hoping. Most people who find us have been through some version of that, and by the time they call, they have quietly started to wonder whether the problem is them. It isn't. Neck and shoulder pain that survives years of treatment usually means the painful area was never the source. The neck and shoulder have been compensating for a restriction somewhere else, sometimes for years. Treat the sore spot on its own and it stays sore, however many sessions you sit through. That is what the connective tissue work you are describing is built to find. Myofascial release — we are trained in the John F. Barnes Myofascial Release Approach, and we have gone back through the seminar series more than once — follows the restriction back to where it actually lives instead of chasing the symptom around the body. It is slow, hands-on, whole-body work, and it is a genuinely different thing from the manual physical therapy most people have already had. Your body was never broken. It was adapting. Ten sessions in and already noticing a difference, after three years of nothing changing — that is your persistence as much as it is anything we did.
